Hoping to get some info. on an inline rifle problem. Converted my rifle to 209 primers to increase power and use the pellets instead of loose powder due to ease of loading and wet weather conditions during hunting. After installing new kit consisting of firing pin, spring, rod, breech plug and 209 primer nipple test fired without powder charge to make sure firing pin would make contact with new primer. it made good contact and set off primer but jammed the trigger assembly in the full back position. Took apart and reset trigger assembly ,trying it again same thing happened as first shot. Anyone have a remedy for this situation?

Have you posed this to the manufacturer? I'd start there or maybe even add a charge and sabot/bullet at the range to see if this occurs under normal shooting scenarios.

So this only happened after installing the conversion kit?

I had one for a short time but never shot it with a load. I did take apart the bolt to thoroughly clean it. From what I can remember about it I am thinking that you have the firing pin/plunger screwed into the cocking piece (That's the piece that engages the trigger sear) to far so that the cocking piece is holding the sear of the trigger down.

From one of the manuals....

Assembly of Bolt
1. Insert the striker through the middle of the spring.
2. Insert spring & striker into the bolt body with
striker head facing opposite of body cutout.
3. Screw the striker into the bolt head. You should
be able to see the threads sticking out of the bolt
body. Note: The striker head should be approx.
1/16” below the face of the bolt body.

Note: The correct distance will be determined
when you complete assembly of the muzzleloader and test to make
sure the primer or percussion cap is being fully struck by the striker.
If the striker does not hit cap or primer, unscrew striker 1/4 turn out.
4. Reset (2mm) set screw in the bolt head.

Shawn/ Mr.Tom, All works fine with original equip. I even took it back apart and fired it several times with out a lock up with the original parts. Put the new back in and it locked the trigger on first shot.Have not tried shooting it with a full charge, might try that this weekend and see what happens. Also will play with the firing pin/plunger screwing it out out a turn or two. Have not called Traditions about it yet. Guess I should do that before anything else.Thank you both for your insight.
