October 8-14, Australia will host the MLAIC World Long Range muzzleloading Championship. 8 shooters will be representing the USA. I know all but one personally and I wish them the best of luck.. They will be shooting from 300-1000yards. I know they were a little concerned about their rifles entering Australia (especially with original rifles), but so far all has gone well.
A few have already made their way 'down under' and some are even taking the opportunity to visit New Zealand.

Are they shooting with smokeless ML's? 1000 yds.is out there even for modern rifles.

Original long range and reproduction of such , Black powder and heavy conicals

Smokeless in ML is not allowed in NRA, NMLRA or MLAIC competitions, nor recommended.
You might also look on this LR section under "one of the Best" as there are some photos of a few Originals rifles. The Pedersoli Gibbs is a somewhat accurate copy of a George Gibbs Match Rifle, it's a good rifle being made today for competitions - no doubt it will be the most popular repo in these World matches in Australia. I think the USA team will have 4 originals and 4 Ped repos.

Wow, keep us posted on the shoot, got my alexander henry build done ready to send out to be engraved, blued and color case harding, planned to be at oak Ridge this spring.

Team USA is holding their own..
Received 2 different emails from 'down-under' as the mid-range was cut short due to weather. Hopefully another update tomorrow.
40 shooters in all from the individual reports I saw, only 6 originals, 4 from the USA.
Below is the mid-range team results so far - each country has 4 shooters in the team matches. They are shooting 5V targets (compared to our 10x)
Really surprised not to see the UK or Germany represented, but then it's not a cheap trip!

Friends Ray Hopkins and Ray Hanson brought home the over-all individual aggregate (300-1000 yards) Gold medals for the USA in the Original and Repo classes.
Team matches started today, will conclude tomorrow.

USA won Gold in both the Mid-Range and Long-Range team matches to go along with Ray & Ray winning the individual overall.

Travel with Arms was the most difficult part of the trip thru customs as some had some issues, but in the end all seem to have made it home safe with all their stuff.
They said the Australian's were great host.
