Sorry I haven't been able to do much more lately. I am hoping to get out Tues & test some additional designs.

Just as an FYI.....Carlos at Ed's Gun Shop (910-692-7936) is now a Lehigh dealer as well & is testing bullets along with me so that we can get you the info as fast as possible. Lehigh makes some of the most consistent quality bullets that you can buy & because of their unique & intelligent design, they can kill quickly & cleanly with a lighter bullet than their competition. There is NO chance of a jacket / core separation.

On another note, it has been said that there is a small amount of lead in their brass bullets & this is just not true. All of the brass bullets contain a small amount of Zinc, but NO lead.

Here are the latest bullets that I'll be trying out.....
From left to right, 357/140, 40/140, 429/220, 45ACP/220, 452/45 COLT/250 Judge ME, 458/185 SOCOM. All of these are copper except for the lightweight SOCOM

I wonder if their formulation has changed & you can bet I WILL find out, but as of the most recent conversation with them it was "NO" lead. I can tell you that some of these will be sent downrange from your old Disc Elite :)

Greg you might check with Dave, but in my recent conversation with Dave, the Brass bullets being used by Knight and most of his regular hunting bullets will not qualify for 'Lead Free' . To qualify for California 'lead free' they must have no more than 1% lead. He could meet this percentage but it would increase the cost per bullet.

Dave did mention that he was building some brass bullets, 'Home Defense' and 'Law Enforcement' bullets you are showing may be one of the group of bullets that do qualify. That is not to say that they will not work for harvesting animals, but that is not what I believe they were designed for. There is some court ruling that 'home defense' or Law enforcement bullets can not be designed for hunting.

Mike....I will indeed check with them just to find out for myself.

As for the bullets pictured, some may be designed as defensive & some may not.We are looking at bullets that can be used in multiple applications. A LOT of guys shoot handgun bullets for hunting & even though I'm not a proponent of the 357 for deer, terminal performance of any of these bullets should surpass a typical jacketed design like a Hornady. In Michigan, the only restriction is that the bullet be at least .357 in diameter. As for other states, knowledge of the laws would of course be the responsibility of the person shooting the bullet.

I will be testing some just for fun but ALL for real world performance for hunting. The 45 Colt bullet may be a fantastic low recoil bullet for youth & ladies, or anyone else that is recoil sensitive. It just isn't designed to be pushed at high speed as it will likely open too fast. But this line is very capable of cleanly harvesting an animal. I have no doubt of that.

Subject: Thinking out Loud

Would your bullet be approved for a lead free bullet – if so how hard would it be to get on that list... Oregon may be making a move that direction..

Mike,

The definition of lead free has not been consistent. In California, they state less than 1% lead. Normally, we use less than 2% leaded brass, but we just came up with a new Controlled Chaos line of less than 1% leaded brass that meets the CA requirement. We could do the same thing for the Bloodlines, but would have to make some slight geometry changes to make it from less than 1%. No big deal, but the current Bloodlines do not meet CA.

Thanks,
Dave

Mike.....How long ago did you get this message from Dave? I'm going to call this week & see if they have made any changes or if they plan too since more states will be going lead free & the availabilty of lead is this country is going to dry up. When Carlos talked to them about lead content (I don't know who he talked to) it was specifically on the Bloodline that he was testing smokeless. I believe everything that Dave has told you but I want to hear it first hand in my ear. That eliminates any second hand info. I'm hoping they do or have done away with the lead since Dave stated that it would be "No big deal"

I have been very pleased with every bullet that I have tried so far & have found Lehigh's quality to be second to none, not to mention that every bullet has performed exactly as they said it would. Lehigh has placed a lot of faith in me & I am working hard to do them the justice that they deserve. They have been nothing short of phenomenal to deal with.

I appreciate everyone's contributions & opinions as it helps me to sometimes think of things that otherwise might not have occurred to me. Keep up the good work- Greg

From my discussions with him there are no plans to change anything soon...

The only brass bullet they produce that is lead free is the "Chaos" series.
