I spent 10 days up deer hunting I got back last Sunday.
My tag was an either sex tag. My son wanted a good buck, I wanted him to get a good buck. He had to work through the week so my plan was to hunt a buck until Wednesday. Then I would take any deer I saw.
On opening day we saw a lot of deer. I passed on a few small bucks and does. Right at dusk I see a toad. This was a 170 class buck and I got a split second shot through the trees and missed.
I got another chance at him on Monday, and two more chances on Tuesday. This buck was hanging out in the thickest, nastiest hillside he could find. I checked my rifle at 150 yards and I was good to go.
Well I saw a lot of deer but I wanted to be done before my son got back on Friday. I decided to shoot the first deer I saw on Wednesday. I step out of the camper and there was a doe right in camp. Okay, So I got her. I went out and looked for a buck for my boy and I looked for a bear for my self.
Friday he got there and we went to look for the big buck. We found him and the deer once again gave us the slip. Saturday we saw a lot of does and a couple small bucks. Jacob passed on several small bucks.
As it turned out We didn't see another deer Saturday night. The next morning we hiked into a roadless area and we never saw a deer. So Jacob waited too long. But we had a great time and I got a chance to just relax and have fun. I did see a great bear but couldn't get close enough for a shot.
