Anyone just load lead bullets lubed or paper patched? I shoot 290 gr Lyman cast bullet in my side lock never worked to hard on developing it just did it for grins. Thinking I'm going to workout a paper patch this summer.

I cast a LEE 405 grain .458 diameter bullet. When made of pure lead they come out 420-23 grain give or take. I have shot these bullets out of orange Knight .458 sabots in 50 caliber inline rifles and traditional rifles. I have sized the .458 to a .451 and shot them as a lead conical in my .451 White Whitetail rifle. I have even put the .451 in a black sabot and shot them out of a 50 caliber rifle.

When I first started playing with them I kept the powder low. Under 80 grains for the most part and they do real well. I have a bunch of them cast in both .458 and .451 depending on how I want to shoot them.
