Finally got time to shoot my hand cast Lee REAL 320 grain 40 to 1 boolits. I think they have potential. I used 60 grains of T7 ff and two .030 cardboard wads. I was only able to find 2 boolits in the backstop. They mushroomed good in the frozen dirt.

Re: Finally got time to shoot my hand cast boolits.

Lee REAL conicals shoot well with low powder charges. I cast them in both sizes for the .50 and .54 calibers. In fact my friend who has a .54 caliber T/C Hawkens, that is all he will hunt with. He shoots 70 grains and loads a 380 grain REAL. He has taken deer with them, no problem.

I'm going to try 70 grains T7 ff next just to see how they group. The shot that's up by the 4 was from my car phone ringing when I pulled the trigger. Haha

Finally got a chance to weigh the 2 boolits that I found. They only lost 15 grains of lead. I'm going to go dig out more boolits once the dirt thaws out more. It was hard digging with only a garden trowel.
