looking for some advise on these two powders, vv 57grs by weight vs reloader #7 62 grs by weight, both with 250 gr parker be and mmp short black sabot ,the #7 grouped much better than the vv n120 should i bail on the vv or try different sabot? bullet? this was done with a 10 ml 2.

That is an awfully light load of either for a 250gr bullet. Neither of those powders are really recommended for a 250gr. I wouldn't trust either when the temps drop.

Either switch to a 300gr with the slower powders or look for some N110 for the 250gr bullets. SR4759 is a great powder too but its no longer made.

They should both be listed in your MLII manual. Start kinda low with N110. It produces very good speed even with around 38-39gr and the lower charge is easier on the sabots.

The re7 is a double base powder and should not give any ignition problems so long as you have a reasonably firm sabot fit. I now use it in my 50s with the 40X50 dark blue sabot over a sub-base as well as with 250 to 350 gr. .458 bullets in place of the 4759 which is no longer available. The re7 is also about 1/2 price of the vv120 around here and the vv120 is difficult to find. My experience and yours may be different, JMHO, W

68gr of Re7 and a 250gr bullet barely clocks 2300fps at 30kpsi. The real question is,....How much speed will you lose with only 62gr at various temps. Sure it will ignite but with how much fps loss?

I would imagine i could get the same speed and fairly low pressure with 35gr-36gr of N110 and it would be rock solid dependable too. Sure N110 is double the price but you only need about half as much powder. N110 is nowhere near as hard to find as N120.

question for gm54-120 , Do you think that with a 275 gr bullet the pressure would increase to around 35,000
