that sounds like it will work. As long as you keep the area dry. Moisture and powder storage are not friends.
 
If it were me and I planned to store it out of the house or garage/shop... I would take any pellets (opened or not) or previously opened containers (of loose powder) that you don't plan to use for a while and Vacuum pack them. Just use the same vacuum packer you would for butchered meat.
 
Save the Silica packets that come with food or in packaging. Throw them in the container for good measure.
