Hey Folks,

I’m at a gun show and just came across an Investarms Hawken 50 cal. It appears to be in great shape and the barrel is nice and shiny. Serial # starts with 132. I can get it for $245. Reviews seem to be positive but I can’t find much pricing info. I’d be buying this for PRB shooting.
Is this a good buy?

Well, I bought it. I wonder if it might be a Cabela’s model since it has fiber optic sights, but there are no Cabela’s markings. They were asking $289 and I walked out the door with it for $240. The barrel twist rate seems to be pretty slow. I’m satisfied.
If this was a bad deal, please don’t tell me until after a Christmas. :D

If the rifle is in good shape it sounds like a fair deal, Investarms is who makes the Lyman Great Plains Rifles. The Twist Rate of your rifle is likely 1:48, if so, it should shoot either a patched round ball, a TC Maxi ball, or Lyman Plains bullet equally well. Good luck with it, and most of all have fun with it!
