He looks like a setter, he's setting on that rock, or is he a sooner dog??

Beautiful dog. I had one that could be his twin brother. Mine died last January after 16 years of being my buddy. He was also a hunting machine. I had a lot of labs in my life. All of them were hunters. The males can be a little hard headed at times but once they understand what you want them to do, they are anal about doing it.

I have not had the heart to get another dog yet but was offered a Golden Retriever puppy. I almost took it, but decided to hold off for a while.

What's his name?

here's a few pics of my boy Bailey who is sadly no longer with us. He is the big yellow. The black is his daughter Rose. She is a 1.5 years old.

I had a yellow lab female before I had my Black Labrador that died almost a year ago.

Megan my yellow, was such a sweet heart. We called her the baby sitter. Believe this or not, when I lived in the city, my buddy would bring his little boy (2 years old) over to the house. In my back yard was an alley and there was traffic in it. When Dominick was outside, Megan would block him from the alley with her body, and if he got too close, grab his back pocket and drag him back to the center of the yard. We used to laugh so hard watching that dog. And when Dom would take a nap, she run over there and lay next to him so he could cuddle her.

Yet you take her into the field and pheasants did not stand a chance with her. She'd work them up and then look at me for the flush command. A more gentle dog I have never seen.

Gotta love those labs. Four have been a member of my family.

That was me training my lab to whistle commands. He was also trained to hand signals.

That was "Sizzlen Number Seven" (his real name) I won the money to purchase him gambling at a casino on a Sizzlin Seven slot machine. This is not lie.. I won on the seventh pull of the handle. There were seven puppies in the litter. He was the seventh born and seventh sold. And was my seventh dog I owned. I mean what else could I have named him but Number Seven.

Hello Cayuga,

Your naming of your Lab, reminds me of that TV show a while back. . .with Mountain men. .. and the old Prospector.. . naming his Donkeys "Number 9" etc. . . :D

Rob that first pic is amazing! Calender material worthy. And I agree there is nothing like the love of a good dog. I feel bad for non dog people who never experiance it. My choc lab past away a few years ago but was a great companion for 13 years. My British ivory lab "Zeus" is now 11 months old and although a bit hard headed is turning into a great dog as well. best thing about him is that I don't think he has a mean bone in his body. I have never trusted a dog so much with my kids! He sure is a clingy little bugger tho, always at my feet. And by always I mean even to the point when I get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night he follows me and lays at my feet lol. Here is a pic of Zeus in his favorite spot.

:(

Had to put my black Lab down after 13 years. Raised him from a pup. He and my kids grew up together. My sons rough housed with him and my daughter dressed him up in her dolls clothes. He loved every minute of it. He didn't like loud noise or water so he wasn't a hunting dog but instead he became another kid around the house. "DOC" never left my side or the kids for that matter when they were outside.
When it was time my daughter went with me to the vet. That was the hardest thing we had to do knowing the out come. He will always be missed by all.......

Ray................ :(

My Black Lab , Tigger, is 9 1/2 and is a pretty special part of my family. When my wife tells him to do something she always tells him using complete sentences, like she's talking to a person. I always remind her that dogs don't understand complete sentences. However......Tigger always does exactly what she tells him to do. Then she looks at me with that little grin of hers and says he understand everything I say. Maybe he does!!!???? :D

:D I can understand your wife's reasoning. I used to talk to Seven in complete sentences all the time. It used to make my friends wonder if the dog actually understood what he was being told to do. Like yours.. mine would do as I said. And his ability to understand and obey commands was phenomenal. My father always said, if a dog could talk that one would talk.

All of my dogs have been Brittanies and Shelty's. This is my first lab. . . .
I have always like the labs I have ran into, their disposition, their attitude, their playfulness, their capabilities.
My wife bought this one for me 1 year ago Valentines day. She is approximately 1 year 6 months old.

A wonderful dog in many respects. . .My only problem with the dog, is that it is scared of guns. . . the noise is the problem. But that is fine. I still love her to death.

Bad part about this whole thing. . .I want another one. . . :D
