Disc Extreme or Super Disc?

Postby Leadslinger » Wed Oct 11, 2017 7:45 pm

Gentlemen, a quick question. I have a Knight .45 serial # S0078xx, stainless steel 1 in 30 twist fluted barrel with black thumb hole stock, FPJ ignition with a quick release bolt. Would this be considered a Disc Extreme or a Super Disc? :huh?:

Super Disc was 1 in 20 twist. It was an Original Disc (Orange disc) and not an Extreme. The Extreme came later.

No it just stamped DISC on the rifle. Super DISC mainly implies its a 45cal fluted barrel and could handle 150gr loads.

At one time there was a pamphlet in the box that read....

.45 SUPER DISC
Loading Instruction Sheet

So, the 1 in 30 twist eliminates the rifle from being a Super Disc even though it has a .45 stainless fluted barrel?

It's a great rifle.

The 1/30 is will shoot lights out. Love the 200 grain SST with 100-110 of BH 209 or T7.

Use the light blue Harvesters for best results in my experience.

So the original disc rifles were made in both 20" and 30" twist ? If so was there a cut off with the serial number to determine one twist to the other or would you have to check the old fashion way using a tight fitted patch on a ramrod.

Serial number change for the .45 twist rate was anything prior to #2291 on mild steel and #5043 on stainless were 1:20 twist

Real Super DISCs are 1-20 but i think that "SUPER DISC" load data sheet was included with many rifles that were not 1-20 also. The one in the pic i posted isnt even a DISC, its a early DISC Extreme.
