Hi there,

upcoming week, I'll get my new Vortek .50 pistol, which also will be my first ML. I want to start with this one and maybe later on, when I feel comfortable enough, probably look for a Vortek LDR rifle to gon on Long range Shooting.

I Need some advice on best choice of bullets. What do you recommend?

Something like this:

or rather something like this:

Maybe the pre-lubricated are also something to consider....

As I know, for the pure lead ones, I Need to lubricate them, right?

Second question - which black powder would you recommend?

Thanks for your advice!

André

The low-drag sabots will work ok in that gun but avoid the lead bullets without the sabots. I'd go buy a box of Horandy .44 caliber [.430] 240 grain XTP bullets and a couple packs of green crush rib harvester sabots for your projectile needs. You might want to try the BH 209 powder to see if the gun shoots it ok, but the usual powders -black, Pyrodex or triple 7- in granulated form and in RS or FF size will make it go bang nicely.

This gun has a 70 grain maximum charge so I don't know that I'd be running bullets over 300 grains thru it. The recoil may determine what weight of bullet you shoot and what powder charge you burn.
