Looking for information on Michigan's handgun carry laws. I have tried a couple of searches and come up with conflicting information. I have a NYS concealed carry permit and I know Michigan will honour it. Any members on here live in MI and able to shed light on what's legal and what's not. Concealed carry legal? Open carry? Can you carry with a round in the chamber? Any info appreciated as long as it's good.

There's an app called "concealed carry 50 state". It's great. Put in you home permit state and any others you have for and while your traveling it gives you laws you need to know for which state your in. Pretty cool resource.

I do remember in my refresher class that Michigan has a goofy law that requires you to tell an officer when pulled over you are a permit holder before he asks you. If he asks before you tell your in trouble.

In Michigan, they know before they pull you over rather you have a CCW or not when running your plate. Drivers stopped should keep their hands on top the steering wheel in plain sight and immediately inform the officer that you have a carry permit and rather you are carrying or not. IIRC, MI honors most all other state's concealed licenses.
