Will it help ease your pain if I tell you how much I like that rifle and how well I am caring for it?

Don't know why I ever sold that to you Art. I'm still kicking myself over that. You must have caught me at a weak moment? LOL
If you have another weak moment I would like the m98

Nooooo. snif, snif

Cheer up Chet, Art has been known to have an occasional weak moment! Sold me this wonderful .451 S91. Batchief glass bedded it for me a day after I joined the DWB's.

My dads .54 Bison when i was younger. I let dad shoot his Whitetail .50 while I shot the .54 becuase i thought that made me a man. That thing would straight STOMP some deer. I still have a flinch. 660 grain bullet over 110 grain of pistol powder. The white muzzeloader is over my shoulder i nthe picture. :(

This one is GOLD. I was 9 years old and it was 1998. First muzzeloader kill and it was with a White. As you can see it was more gun than I should have been shooting at 9 years old but I felt like a bad son of gun!

Dad has 3 white rifles and I have one white shotgun. Ill have to get pictures some time.

That is my White M97 Whitetail Hunter in ,451. It has the laminate stock as you can see. And it sports a Nikon Omega 3-9x40 scope. This is a very nice shooting rifle. 65 grains of T-7 2f (thanks to Ed's suggestions) and a Bull Shop 460 grain conical bullet and this thing will flat out shoot!

This is my White Bison .504 caliber. I purchased it used and the previous owner was not real careful about cleaning his rifle. The bore has pitting. The rifle was cleaned and I threw a 4x32mm Simmons Pro Diamond scope ($29.00) and some simple rings. I took the rifle out to the range and this is me trying out the scope.

With that simple scope I later shot a 2-1/2 inch group at one hundred yards with that rifle. Needless to say, its a shooter.

This of course is my White Ultra Mag .504 caliber. With the laminate stock. It wears a 2-7x32mm Nukon Pro Staff. This is a great scope!! And as all Ultra Mag shooters know, these things will really shoot.

Here is my .504 Model 97 with doc's initials on it and the crown. Ever see one like that Chet? funky or wilson crown?

Hmm just when you think you might know something you find out you dont. I have 2 Wilson barrels and that doesn't look like mine. Since it's an MTI I would have assumed Criterion, but it doesn't appear to be that either . Since it has Docs initials he may have redone it in which case it's anybody's guess :) I had 2 identical guns Doc did , one had a Douglas barrel one had a Kelly
So go figure . Anyway they all shoot good :) so if it's a White a person should be happy regardless of the barrel manufacturer.

That is where the "Doc Factor" comes in. I'd say that is a Bo Clerke barrel that has been partially recrowned. Could have been by the previous owner, or Doc himself?

How many lands and grooves are in the barrel? That is why I said nothing with these rifles is absolute, and especially so if it has went back through Docs hands.

my Bison has a similar looking barrel.

Doesn't it look like that a little?

That is a Wilson crown. The end of the barrel is flat with a recessed target crown. The Clerk is funnel shaped.

Both my lightings and both Bisons of mine are Wilson .
I wonder what the Tbolt I got coming from Doc will be .
It is suppose to be NIB , guess I will see in a week or two
I even have a real odd ball . Anybody know about a 451 bull barrel Bison with shorty barrel , like 20 inch ?

six lands six grooves

Bo Clerke .451 cal on left, Wilson .504 cal on the right. Sorry, too late for natural light.

Steve's barrel is a Doc induced hybrid, more than likely. When Doc stamps his GBW initials on a rifle, it means it has went through his accurizing process. He must not have liked the crown on that one?

Somebody stole one :) it should have 7 !:)

There is minor pitting at the muzzle, kinda hard to see with flashlight, but I counted six couple of times. I could be wrong tho, wouldn't be the first time. :huh?: How many do the Wilson barrels have?
