Just added this 870 SPS to the collection... Got it from Buds and it came with an additional cantelever slug bbl... Great combo with the Knoxx stock and sims recoil pad.

She's topped with a Tru-Glo turkey red dot and wears a Hevi-Shot choke and so far prefers cheap Winchester Supreme #6's in 2 1/4 oz fare.

I'll probable get razed for this but....

My turkey gun for this upcoming season is a Spanish made norica storm .22 mag pellet rifle. One pop at 20-30 yards in the noggin and I'll have turkey dinner this year....if I can get em in close enough.

Hard to believe but its kosher with the DFG here in California. I plan on harvesting some bunnies/squirrels with it too.

White Thunder. Bought it used for $150. Full Choke. CVA wad that I cut pedals into. It tappers so you can load through a full choke. I put a card under and over the wad. 1.5 ounces of #4. I forgot how much powder I used. Only Turkey hunted with the gun one year to prove to my dad I could kill one with it. I use the gun one time a year to squirrel hunt. I love it for squirrel hunting.

Normally use a Benelli SBE or Last year I actually got one with my bow.

I have upgraded. JC Higgins bolter 20 still around for the grand kids but hit up on a great trade and ended up with a BPS special field in 12 ga. Takes 3" shells and has screw in chokes. Got a Carlsons ported for large shot like #4 Hevi down to BBB or 4buck, I think it's a "light full" but shoots like X-full with that shot. Looks good in blue and real walnut. Shoots good and nice and light. 21" barrel and short (holds 3) magazine plus 1 in chamber and straight "English" style stock. Great looking gun and good shooter. I like #5 in the 20 and #4 for the 12. Have my eye on a used Franchi 48 in 20 ga at a LGS. Working on getting some cash to put layaway on that beauty. Catfish hooking good on the winter trotlines with the mild weather and big ones are $.65 a lb. and others are $.45 and I'm grossing 80# to 100# to market every other day. So the Franchi soon come home with me! Having bolter and pump shotguns all my life a auto be a treat. Wishing great spring hunting to all. W

Shot this bearded hen at 15 steps.

Nice bird, I've not shot a bearded hen yet, have only saw one in woods myself,
Question on your load, I read somewhere that with ML shotguns its best togo up in shot size, how far do you feel/have the #6s will still be able to kill a bird, I would rather be using #4 shot instead of the #4buck.

Sorry for the late reply. The gun owner and myself decided to limit our self on 25 yards and under on the shots. #4s and #5s did not pattern near as well as the 6s, and with our decision to limit shot distance, we decided on #6s.

With a modern inline I would consider 5s with a heavier payload
