I guess a good thing about hosting matches - when someone sees the match announced who doesn't/can't shoot anymore, they call you up and ask if you (or someone) would be interested in a rifle. This is not the 1st time this has happened - but, this time it's my favorite maker!

Interesting that the barrel length is 36" on this 2-band original. Parker Hale 2-band barrel is 32"


Now I need to get busy to see how it shoots - in preparation for Oak Ridge!

Never had the privilege of shooting a Volunteer but I always love hearing and reading about the Volunteer and Whitworth rifles.
 
The Brits sure made nice guns back in the day!

IMO - The British Best are the best ML (arms) ever made.
After I handled my 1st one, nearly 30 years ago - I sold every gun I owned (except 2 family pieces) to get enough $ to buy an original of my own.
