Honestly, I can't see anyone wanting to lug that thing through the woods, it is enormous.

If that's the weapon it will take to get Michigan hunters to begin shooting enough does during archery season I'm all for it. Michigan archers have a history of not shooting enough does to balance the herd. You have to look no further than the DNR's kill statistics to see we archers are not doing our part to help. The statistics also show that Michigan archers put as much or more pressure on our deer herd than firearm season hunters do. See page 14 & 15 of the link. With 93 days to hunt with a bow it an embarassment to our sport to not shoot a doe in a DMU where it needs to be done.

On a serious note I doubt that it will make any impact on our deer herd. I can't believe that many will purchase that accessory for their AR-15 but this is America where anything is possible.

It appears that Michigan will be allowing a crossbow to be used during any season where a firearm can be used after the early bow season has been completed. I know I won't be rushing out to buy one but it will be nice to know it's an option when I can't use my Switchback XT anymore.

They won't use that thing to kill more does, they want to use it to kill more bucks before the rut.

That's the biggest problem with Michigan's early archery season, it should be antlerless only in every DMU that is over goal. We archers don't get it done and the stats prove it. Maybe earn a buck for early archery season would work for every DMU that is over goal.
