The hole going through my breech plug is not vertical and it is not centered on the threaded end of the plug. I was cleaning the carbon with a drill bit today (always before I had used paper clips) and could not help but notice the drill bit was angled when you would ordinarily think it should be vertical. Shouldn't the hole be centered where the fire enters the hole? It clearly is not.

I've got another Savage coming soon and will be able to compare breechplugs. The QC check on the new one should be better b/c it's going come from Mr. Ball.

I believe you mean "concentric" vs. vertical. Off center is common, angled through the plug is not.

Is it an issue? No.

Is it "right." No.

Will Savage send you a replacement? I believe they will.

I am hopeful that is the reason I cannot put bullet on top of a bullet.
