After cleaning the cosmoline out of it, putting never seize on the nipple and clean out screw, finding some odd ball bullets to break it in with i was ready. The feeling of shooting these guns takes you back 150 years or more..i shot 3 different bullets with it to start, first one was 285 gr. .45 ELR, second one was 40 cal.,195 gr. Leigh high defense with the light blue sabot, the third one was a .45 cal., solid lead, knurled, 250 gr. Cheapo Hornady. I used 70 grains by volume of holy black 3 F, off the bench at 40 yds. Very nice shooting gun, first and second groups were about an inch. 7 th and 8 th shots were just to see were bullets are hitting… over all its a great gun and very happy to have it. Deer will definitely shake when they see it, the close ones anyhow… lol285593C2-1E6E-49B9-B3AA-76352D2AD7D5.jpeg83EB3D96-66F3-4C15-999A-B551FC588AE5.jpeg3B998B01-24F8-46EA-9F4C-93A59E751FCF.jpeg

Glad you got it out to enjoy yesterday. Nice shooting with it.

What gr n which powder & F grade do you use ? I have made several this Spring, i may have an extra i could send you.
I have several that I've made, from 20 to 70 grains. I mostly burn 3f and I have been looking to make one for 80 grains but haven't found the right piece of antler yet. If you have an extra, I'd be happy to have it.
