Am late in getting the food plots planted this year. If rains are adequate the plots should be ready by OK muzzleloader season in late October.
Last Saturday i planted two plots at the place north of Elmore City. The soil was very dry. One plot was planted in winter rye. The other was planted with oats, winter rye and left over fall plot seed from a year ago. It appears the area got some good rain yesterday and last night.
Will go back tomorrow and attempt to plant winter oats in wet ground. Farmers here call it "mudding oats". If the ground is too wet i'll plant on Saturday.
We have two young bucks on game camera. Both have decent racks but they need to live a couple more years. That won't happen because folks in that area poach anything with horns.
Must also plant a couple small plots at our deer lease.
