So Diablo I believe made a great point that in a smooth sized bullet there is a .003 air gap per side in a 452/458 barrel
On most common bullets.
I was curios if any one has tried a paper patch to take up that air gap.
Paper measures roughly .003 to .004 depending on make. with a knurled bullet could grip the bullet to provide the rotational forces necessary to stabilize the bullets.
I'm specifically interested in 45 cal mono bullets for hunting....
State of the art in 1880s bench rest
With lead bullets.
I got my tough skin on so don't hold back......
Thanks
John

Bronko made me some 400 grain paper patches Im going to use in my Wolverine this season. First up, Arkansas, 1 week from Sunday.

Probably missed your point smokey but Im excited.

there is no air gap after it is fired , the bullet bumps to groove diameter
I think I'm missing something in the sizing or load as some days I'll shoot tight groups as shown previously
And today not so good.
I'll hunt with my smoker tomorrow.
Maybe get it figured out before centerfire season.....
