Thank you herschel, It’s easy to get Flubbered up and Ramble in these darn videos, I know what i need/want to say but i catch myself wandering in to something else  I would be much better off to Write down things i need to say and check them off after i get done, otherwise I forget if i covered it or not? If anyone is interested in Paper Patching for their Rifle/Rifles i would be more than happy to answer any questions, And help get you going on the right track :yeah:

Paper Patching for these Muzzleloaders is truly a LOT of Fun to do, Every aspect of it! Paper Patching is what peaked my interest in these Old Muzzleloaders, and where most of my Knowledge is. I was like a Sponge soaking up all of the info i could on this stuff, Then a LOT of time on the Range Testing Different things, I have put a TON of lead down range with Paper attached :D It all started to come together for me, at this point i feel i have it down as good as I possibly can get it. I love shooting these Patched bullets, More so from a Bench on Targets, But i have Many Good SOLID hunting loads for them as well

Good Job , Hit nail on the head. Might add , The Nationals at Friendship one year was won with 500 grn PP Bullet using Swiss Black powder. The IH Agg.

Bob, If you and Rick (52bore) See something i missed, or would like to ad to this, By all means do so! I know you both know this stuff :yeah:

This is a Paper Patched bullet “Bump Test” Video i did to show what it takes to get the bullet to slide off the Powder Charge. This is PRECISELY why i made Video number 2 above to show how to adjust Bullet fit. Although I haven’t tested it, I am confident This would also apply to Pure Soft lead Bullets like the Maxi Ball, Lee R.E.A.L. Lyman Plains etc. With Front Driving bands. In certain barrels, Upon Loading about 3/4 of the Way down the Bullet Driving Band “Gives up” and the Bullet has VERY little Holding Resistance left. I started a thread on this quite sometime ago and nobody had an answer to it? I figured it out on my own, To combat this problem i bumped up the Lead Hardness and that worked like a Dream :yeah:

Great videos Lewis. Thanks for putting them together. That bump test is an eye opener ain't it!

I enjoyed putting the videos together :yeah: As a friend of mine, you know I’ve put a LOT of time in this stuff.

I did this same test yesterday except I dropped the Ole gal from 16 inches, the Bullet slid at least twice this far, But I figured a shorter drop like this would be a more realistic Test so i Re Did it. I knew these “Slip Fit” bullets would move off the powder as i have tested this long ago with all of my Barrels (.45, .50, and .54 Cal) that i have Paper Patch hunting loads for, This is how I adjusted my Sizer dies to get Optimum PP bullet fit for MY PERSONAL peace at mind that my Paper Patch bullets will DEFINITELY stay put on the Powder where they belong when in the Field :yeah:

Here is another method that i came up with to tighten up a PP Bullet for Hunting, I did this about a Year ago. I tested the cold bore Shot loaded like this for Several days in a Row, accuracy was not effected in the least, My Cold bore shots Hit right where they supposed to when Loaded this way. With paper measuring 0.002 single, this ads 0.004 to the Bullet, if you load your Cold bore shot like this it will NOT budge until you Pull the Trigger! :yeah:

Another good read on Paper Patching, This is geared toward Cartridge (BPCR) Brent Danielson is a World Class shooter, along with Dave Gullo, Lee Shavers, etc.

http://www.public.iastate.edu/~jessie/PPB/PPB.htm
Have shot against Brent many times and also Lee Shaver, very consistant shooters hard to beat. They usually at Oak Ridge. The other Fellow shoots At Oak Ridge also and is still trying to get his Whitworth to working, He is getting better. I know him when I see him but can't think of his name, The fellow at Friendship that is

Bob, I have to make it to Friendship, Gonna put that on my “Bucket List” I would REALLY ENJOY Shooting with you guy’s, And Plain Ole Visiting with ya all. My wife would also enjoy it, she loves to travel. I have never been anywhere much to speak of in my life, never been in an Airplane. Friendship Indiana is 2,041 miles from here according to my computer, I would enjoy Driving it.

Wa, a little bit of Oregon, North Idaho, and a tiny bit of this end of Montana is all i have seen

I think once you saw Friendship and the Nationals with all the different Matches going on at same time , you want to come back every year.

Good video, there's a lot of history behind PP..

I've never read when or who it is accredited to, but I would say 1840's because the Whitworth trials/experiments occurred during the early 1850's for the British Gov't.
