Hi from Michigan. Ive been following this site for a couple years. Hope you don't mind. Ive been an inline ml'r and bowhunter for only a few decades so i dont know as much as some of you guys but i know which end to point down range. I was in the Army when i was younger, where i learnt the basics of firearm safety and shooting. I have had my cpl for 10+ yrs and own plenty of pistols, revolvers and long guns, too. ML's and Mossbergs being my faves. I have 2 Knight DISC .45, a CVA Accura PR, and a White Mntn Carbine .45 as well as a Ruger Old Army. I've owned lot of CVAs over the years with great satisfaction. i thought i had joined up here in the past but can't find the info, so maybe not.

Welcome to the Forum! Do you shoot your TC White Mountain Carbine much? Do you shoot bullets in it? I had a Chance at a Brand New TC WMC and i let it slip away, I tried to go back this Winter in hopes of it stil being there, But it wasn’t. I have read different info on Bore Twist Rate? Do you know the Twist Rate of yours? Gotta love these Sidelock Muzzleloaders, Super simple, Very Easy to Care for. And can be EVERY bit as accurate as an inline

Thx. I have not shot the WMC yet. It needed some tlc when i got it. Trigger had a stuck spring and barrel had surface rust that i cleaned up and reblued. It seems to be a 1:38? twist. I think. I cast some of my own bullets and want to try a 330 Gould first, with T7.

where at in MI? I am near Lansing.
I left Lansing after retiring from GM after 31 years. Alpena area now. There's a couple really good BPCR shooters, also from MI on the site, but they rarely post.
If you ever come vacation on the Sunrise Side, bring your muzz and LOTS of bullets. I'll get you on a 600yd range.

When we were first married my wife and I spent a good amount of weekends in Oscoda at the KOA there. That would have been late 80's early 90's. Still get up to Harrison a couple times a year. Maybe this summer we will hook up and wring out the Encores.

Sadly, I don't have my last Encore...…..

Im also near Lansing. East of it, in Fowlerville.
You guys down below, there's the Family Shooters Corral over by Eaton Rapids you can shoot to 300yds at. I shot there years ago myself. They had plans at one time of making a 500yd range, but I guess that didn't pan out.

May have to go shoot together some day.
I'm an old muzzy hunter from way back use to hunt with MK85 in 54 cal. still have it, that's the only one I have anymore. I really enjoyed my two SS and four blued/black Savages in 50 cal years ago those were some shotters many deer mostly one shot kills my wife and son had excellent eyes and steady, my wife absolutely injoyed her SS Savage we used smokless powder in our Savages not many people have good to say about them but we never had any problems with ours,we bought them when they first showed up in the magazine less then $300 back then new sad to say time's got bad had to sale over six long guns and more pistols back in 2011. Was hoping to replace the Savages and Para's but the price is nuts now even for a used one an i'd never by a used one because alot of people don't take care of them the way it should have been and price for new is way out there if you can find any and for this SSI old man now. But still have my Knight MK85 54 cal stalker in green lame stock, have since 1986 it was new then big bucks for me raising six in our family back then but took awhile to save up for it and shot many deer over the year's with loose blck powder and sabots. It's been in retirement for many years just like me know lots of good memories and I will pass the MK85 on to my first grandson I call him "Bobcat" Most people don't like the old 54 cal but you can go up to heavy bullet or down to light bullets at anytime and kill anything big or small and have the power when needed. But God Willing my Bobcat will have fun with it some day I hope and i hope he keeps it to pass on to his son/daughter or grandchild? one never knows what will happen in the future especially when it comes to our God giving gun rights and hunting rights. I've told my children and family that we won't have to worry about the anti people because soon we hunter's and shooters won't have enough land to hunt on the way the farms are being turned into malls parking lots and subdivision. I grew up in VanBuren County Michigan on my Grandmother 40 acres on 24th street and worked on our neighborhood farms, growing up and hunting the two square miles around our home and Shollow Lake on my Grandmother 40 acres, now just two years ago the last four acers and the house my Dad built for my Mom an us kids back in 1961+ has been sold... You can't spit without hitting a house in that two mile square neaborhood now let alone hunt or think about shooting a gun of any kind. Enjoy your time in the field and plinking with your family and friends as long as you can and as much as you can everyday and try to teach as many young people and older people about hunting guns and shooting fishing and God's great outdoors as much as you can. As they say (I think still) keep your powder dry and stay safe out there friends. 1Nimrod
