It's been successful with some the CF shooters and I read that it lowers pressures. Anyone know of a muzzleloading RIFLE being made with gain twist?

Talked to a builder today about it and it may have caught his interest.

Interesting.....……...

I was going to have one built a few years ago but never did . I believe coleraine was the barrel maker

I have one on 300 win CF and shots very will at 1000 yds. and was thinking of putting one on a ML as will at one time but never did this was 2 to 3 years ago and it was going to that 8 mouths to come in if then.

Old time long range muzzle loaders , some were made that way. I do know people that shoot them in BPCR .45 and shoot well. If works there it will work in muzzle loader , also helps on recoil. Bartlien Barrel company makes them

just thinking luke my help he sales bartlein barrels who also makes the gain twist barrels

The Gibbs/Metford ML Match Rifle utilized a gain twist along with radius bottom rifling of only 0.003” deep in the 1860’s - later improvements years after Whitworth, Henry and others. Metford and Rigby were tops in the LR game at this point.
Rigby’s 1:18 is what the Irish Team utilized in the original Creedmoor Match if 1874 vs the Americans.
Seemed to be a good sales promotion - like many things we see, even today. Like Left Hand twist...
Here’s a Gibbs/Metford I posted on the LR section under the heading - The Best.

Ron Smith in Alberta makes them for anything that any one wants. Internationally. I had one built for a 338 Lapua I built a few years ago, It was a tack driver. I have contact info if anybody wants it.

BPCR shooters use them, you can even get left hand twist if you want, make one heck of good MZ barrel
