Weaver Classic V series are good scopes. Made at LoW in Japan. Natchez has a sale on the smaller one for $159 atm. Eye relief is just ok but i think it would work for many folks. Nice scope for lighter rigs too.

2x10x38 is a odd size but looks like a good value for people that dont want a heavy scope on a lighter rifle.

Weaver has been around a LONG LONG Time :lewis: I remember my Grandfather having a Few of the OLD K Series Fixed powers, 4 power I believe? I wouldn’t Hesitate to Try a Weaver of Today.

Anyone try the Bushnell Trophy DOA 250 muzzleloader scope? Just bought one on Amazon..open box for less the $120... Looks to be a nice piece..

I use the Bushnell Banner Dusk&Dawn,3x9x40 with the circle x crosshairs. It gets the job done for me and was easy on my wallet.

I have owned a few Bushnell Scopes over the Years, they worked just fine, I cannot remember a Failure with the ones i had?

My dad has a Cheap TASCO on a Break Action (Springer) .22 Caliber Pellet Rifle, Been shooting it for about 3 Years now, Stil holding Up Strong :lewis: A Springer Pellet Rifle Will DESTROY a Scope NOT Rated for them in a Hurry, A Scope has to be TOUGH to Withstand the Type of Recoil Springer Pellet Rifles Generate

I have the Bushnell but not currently on a gun. Had it on the Redemption and it held zero very well and tracked well. Pretty good glass for the money. I would recommend.

I have tried Bushnell scopes in the past. They failed for me with the only exception being an Elite 3200. It was tough as nails! I have all Leupold now and one Zeiss.

Bushnells made in Japan=pretty good and some really good
Bushnells made anywhere else overseas=dont bother with them on a ML.

Many of them are just fine on a centerfire aside from hard kicking magnums. Some of their newer scopes might come from Korea. Not really sure but i have a very nice Swift Premier made in Korea. At the price point they want for Nitro and Forge though you can get tougher scopes made at factories with a better reputation.

I would say the same thing about Vortex too. I would not slap a CrossFire II made in China on any of my MLs. You can spend $50-$60 more and get scopes made in Japan or even the USA. Failure rate is just too high on hard kickers. China is starting to produce some good scopes but they copy everything. Quality control is still not in the same league as Japan or Philippines.

Their lightest scope is what 21oz and will set you back a grand for a 2nd focal plane scope?

There are tons of nice $1000 scopes out there. As a hunter i would go with a Razor HD LH and spend less for a scope more intended for hunting than tactical/bench use.

Heavy bench use....yeah them Nightforce are sweet scopes. Is it gunna be $250 better than a SWFA SS 3x15x42 FFP? Probably for a competition shooter it would be.

Dad (R.I.P.) always said, "If you don't have the money or time to do it right the first time, where are you going to get the money or time to do it over?"

Once you get tired of spending good money after bad, you finally realize (well some do), that maybe you should have spent more for a higher quality product.

You can buy a hunting scope and that's what its made for. You can buy a tactical/bench scope and use it for both hunting and bench. ;)

“Buy once, cry once!”
Don’t waste time and money on junk, buy the best you can the first time.

Putting a 21oz scope on my 7lb rifles simply wont cut it. Its that simple. I dont need or even want any electronics in my scopes. Its that simple. Ive read of several NF scopes failing on smokeless rigs too. There are several scopes with very good reliability ratings on SMLs that cost half as much. I have 2 sub $200 scopes (US made) now i beat to death with some bruiser loads. Still pretty happy with them too other than the reticle.

I dont care who makes it but a 21oz scope will never end up n my NULA even if it had GPS and a cell phone built in. Plus made coffee for me.

Cabelas will have the VX3i 3.5x10x40 on sale Black Friday for $299. Just got the flyer.
Duplex
Length (in) 12.60
Eye Relief (in) - Low 4.40
Eye Relief (in) - High 3.60
Weight (oz) 12.60

Darn nice specs for the vast majority of hunters.

Ok, lets just face the facts though, you see very few problems with Nightforce on SML rifles, but tons of problems with Vortex and others. Many would rather switch to Tasco than Vortex it seems.
If you ever do need service from Nightforce, you won't wait a month or two+ like some other manufacturers.

Same can be said for the Sightron SIII LRs too. Hard to find warranty complaints when there are so few that get returned. 3x9x42 SWFA SS also has super low reviews on failures and some of the best reviews for glass quality of their line up. "SIII LRs are tougher than woodpecker lips" according to HillBill who has killed numerous scopes on SMLs. Its still a heavy scope but $700 for a 3.5x10. So $300 left over for top shelf rings and bases.

Unlike other companies Sightron owns factories in Japan and the Philippines for the lower end models. They dont out source the assembly from what i can find out. Tasco never made a thing as far as i know. Everything was out sourced.

I will gladly consider NF when they offer at least a 2x10x40 that weighs in at no more than 18oz, good eye relief and $800 or less. Until then there are good scopes that fit that bill or very very close.

I know just 2oz will prevent you from a purchase. Its just to heavy. And I know that you have a budget. However we both know where we can buy a Nightforce for much less than retail and very likely meet, or be very close to your budget limit. 30mm tube and 42mm objective for more light. :)

I could live with 3x10x42 and i like the Forceplex. Its still $900...…………………..

I'm pretty sure that we both can find that scope for a lessor price, more than likely very near your budget. ;) Its also very possible to find one even less than your maximum budget that is very lightly used, from someone wanting to upgrade to an NXS or ATACR, even the NX8. Some shooters went back to Leupold and the VX-HD series.
But, also from a lot of reading, it appears that maybe Vortex has taken some type of dump on both quality and CS.

If someone just wants a scope to shoot a few times before the season starts and maybe once during the season, then they'd likely get by with a lower quality scope. On both sides of the coin, there's always exceptions.

Best thing is to research and research even more.
