After too long reading and learning smokeless tips from many of you all, watching videos, note taking, buying, waiting, and hoping all would work out my Brux Encore is complete. Picked it up yesterday morning after being pillar bedded by a gunsmith except now it was my sons birthday. Couldn't wait though so I told my wife I had to go to the store and quickly drove over an hour to our range to shoot this thing and ensure all would work. Had powder, bullets, primers ready for months so all I had to do was load and shoot. After four shots at 25 to get the feel and three a fifty to adjust the scope from a bit, I shot three touching at 100 in all of 30 minutes. I drove home happy. Much more to try and stretch this thing out further but so pleased with first day.

Thanks, I shoot off bags, bi-pods for one of my rifles. Had the trigger and action reworked when I purchased the frame, world of difference from my stock black powder encore. Looking forward to trying other loads and bullets I have acquired when time permits. Took a doe yesterday at a grand range of 15 yards...Yikes, unfair.

NICE....Beautiful gun...

Nice rig. I would only run a brush in the bore to break the powder crust and not fully clean the barrel until it quits grouping. My sml's shoot best on a fouled bore. It seems to take 10-12 shots before it settles in after a full cleaning. That is why most that I know don't clean smokeless guns after each range session. Just a suggestion.

I have three Arrowhead rimage builds and one hankins remage build, 60 grains of IMR 4198 is one of my favorite loads, I primarily shoot Pittman and fury bullets,, the accuracy of a 20 twist ,45 Cal will amaze those who never shot one, I've taken that 60 grain load with a 300 grain arrow max out to 450 yards ,I know the barrels I have will take a more powder than that I just don't really see the need, I have one heavy barreled 45 that luke built for me, I know it can take the heavier charges like some shoot, even with that heavy barrel I stay on the 70 gr and below loads,,and d55 is right ,, all my gun shoot better after about 8 shots.

You should stick with moderate loads in Remage. Its no stronger than a small shank Savage so 60gr of 4198 and a 300gr bullet is about as high as you want to go.

Full power loads should be reserved for builds with 1.2"+ OD for at least 5" of the shank.

Both remage barrel gunsmiths that I have barrels from recommended slightly heavier charges,, I do agree with you on the 60 gr I stay right there, I'm looking for a consistent accuracy not speed

Remage is slightly over 1" OD. Same as small shank Savage. Smaller than a large shank IIRC. Best to keep loads 45kpsi or less in those. There is no room for errors. You can get more speed using 3031 but around the same peak. It just takes lots more powder to do it.

Small shank= 1.055"
Remage= 1.060"
Large Shank= 1.12"

Hankins max recommended load for a 275gr is 65gr of 4198 or 45kpsi for his "Rem pre-fits" aka Remage.
