Yes, I believe I have found some parts to put a bolt together - just trying to keep the cost down. Ordered some 54 cal bullets & looking forward to it

One thing you are over looking....by the time you do all these 700ML upgrades....You will still have a ML that weighs a lot more than a Knight Ulite which already has a nice B&C stock and Timney trigger. Plus you will have more money in it than you can buy one for already done. Spending that kinda dough i would go with a Rem700 single shot SS action and shoot whatever powder you want to shoot. Those actions are around $450 with a X-Mark trigger.

If you want a much lighter rig you can look for a Savage model 11 or 16 light weight hunter to convert. Thats a DIY deal all the way if you got a barrel nut wrench. Those rifles were around 6lbs as a CF.

True, but I picked up this 54 cal for under $100. Pretty sure those savages will be $450+ if & when you find them.

Thanks GM54--120 , Thank goodness your here , know what you know , and point us in the right directions......
I ultimately want to be able to use 150--160 grV BH or milder smokeless loads........eventually with a 45 and still be lite . Make it out of unobtainium ???

Sell both and get a stronger action. Chromoly will probably be a slightly stronger barrel. Whatever Douglas uses for CM is a little tougher than their SS. LRMP is gunna handle heavy loads better anyway with locking lug actions. All you need is the common short action .473 bolt head..308...243...7-08 ect ect ect. The single shot action means one less thing to buy. It wont need the mag block off plate and its a stiffer action.

Under $400 or around $445 with a fluted bolt

The thing is all this will take time ..for now i'll just keep the Rem 700ml . Its the easier one to sell and useable the quickest . Still would like to have a 50 around and Badger Ridge makes that Blackhorn friendly within barrel limits . If it is gonna stay a 50 i wish a aftermarket bp was offered for the UML barrel as its rated for hotter loads and has a better twist (1 in 26) plus it will screw right on . Lighter too .and the fluteing IS kinda nice , 26 in too . The aftermarket support IS ALSO THERE and ISNT gonna go away either . Its also ss and lighter than the disc even being scoped !!! Thinking use it till i can get a 45 1 in 20 Knight Ultralight as its done except for the new Bestill 2 piece bp and MAYBE a brake too with bullet on bore . Michigan wont allow smokeless during mz season.anyway and thats ok with me . Thank you for sorting through the options with me !!!! I think this is the best options i have available right now . ------ Sideshow

I've used several of these ignition systems on bolt guns and one on a Encore conversion...By far the best thing going...no leaks and very efficient ignition... You get more than just a plug..20 brass modules are included also..On what I've read about the ignition problems and the stuck plugs with the UML this is small price to pay...It's too bad all these factory produced guns have terrible ignition systems and have to be modified to prevent leakage and inconsistent ignition...Zen

Youre right it is a shame . $1000 and its about a boat anchor as shipped !!! I know you get the moduals too but it would still be nice to have a lower priced option . Thats alot of extra expense for a RUML and even worse for a 20+yr old 700ML to put into it just to use a RUML barrel on the 700ML . Thank you tbough , i didnt know it exsisted .

I don’t think you can put a Rem ULtimate barrel on a Rem 700ML, thread length is different, IIRC
A bp made to do it for headspace would fix it . More than enough there for secure fit to receiver .

The UML 26" barrel doesn't appeal to me (probably heavier than the old style barrels). Still looking around at what I can get a light weight 45 barrel for the old ml - I don't need mega fast, just looking at light weight.

PR bullet has some 50cal 1-26 barrels for around $250. In the past they used Green Mountain but GMB does not offer a 1-26 button rifled barrel. Could be cut rifled though. Thats a great price if it is cut rifled.

28" long for higher velocity
Remington Sendaro taper for perfect stock fit
1 : 26" twist

Sideshow, i know how much you love to tinker. so sell that Knight and get to it! I was just admiring a 700 ss ML .54. and im not even a 54 fan. But that one might have me hooked. That or a Pedersoli hawken hunter 54

That would be really good deal for a barrel , especially if it was a 45 , BUT given his ideas on a 45's twist rate and his bp design not so mich . Lol !!! I wonder if you GOTTA use Cecils bp and/or variflames ??? I would hope not !!!
