I’d love to hear what the community thinks about this breech loading system from Federal:

To me it’s a big not-needed and unsporting product/system. A big part of the challenge and fun of muzzleloader shooting is determining what shoots best from an individual rifle, in terms of bullet and powder combinations loaded from the muzzle. Who wants a system that doesn’t load entirely from the muzzle? This system is contradictory in name, function and sporting challenge.

Not legal here during our season unless it were in a pistol. ( i know its a odd reg. You can use a ML or a pistol in our season)
Almost $2.70 per shot MSRP ($26.99/10shots)
Looks like a disposable plastic breach plug just begging for someone to reuse and get hurt.

I agree with you both. But like cf guns, there can be many different chamberings in the same model guns. And the mfr's don't truly know what will sell til we buy, or don't buy, the product. I also see it as a step in the evolution of MLs. Whether fwd or backwards remains to be seen. Maybe it will inspire something else that is awesome.

Another thing. IF you saw the video, it says the barrel has a shelf to stop the bullet. So the bullet/sabot always ends up at the same spot in the barrel.

Well a 100gr powder column is shorter in length than 120gr so i wonder how they are dealing with that? Only way i can imagine is the FireStick 100gr is smaller ID to make the 100gr load longer. Decreasing ID will increase pressure within the "stick". Its either that or you have a dead air space between the powder and the projectile.

Remember the original H&Rs with the plug that just pushed in and how there were concerns that plug could become a projectile if opened too soon after a FTF?...Yeah it looks like a nightmare all over again.

In Ohio I do not believe it would be legal at this time. They say now that a muzzleloader must be loaded exclusively from the muzzle and have a permanent breech plug.

Our laws say loaded from the muzzle only. Otherwise i could take a 45/70 shell with powder/wad and load a projectile through the muzzle. There is no difference in the loading procedure.

I wouldn't shoot it cuz I don't want to shoot boreloks and i have no current plans to buy a traditions.

They may have a way to make a 100grn and a 120 or 150grn version and keep the same dimensions of the stick.
It would be a no brainer for the hunters who don't want to think about it or spend time shooting and load development. Like the guy in the vid, Jason Vanderbrink said, "the average person who muzzleloader hunts". It isn't aimed at the few of us who are a lil more "into" MLs. I don't think it will take off. Its just another gimmick. But some guys will buy it and try it. Remember electric firing MLs? They worked great but they didn't sell.

Imagine a CF that only took one brand of brass. You are locked into that 1 brass cartridge and 2 powder charges. How long do you think that turd would float without some massive performance gain?

At $2.70 per shot (just for powder) it better clean my rifle when im done and give me over 2300fps with a 250gr bullet because i can basically do that now for a tiny fraction of the cost per shot.

That powder cost me $40 for a full lb. Only needs 43gr to do it. Its insanely clean, temp stable and reliable. Its been around for many many years.

I don’t think you or I are their target market.
They’re after the segment of the market using pellets and Powerbelts or BoreLock bullets out of an imported rifle that shoots less than 10 rounds a year.

Obviously im not...if for no other reason they would be illegal here. If i want to make it that easy i can use a CF pistol during our alternative season. I would have zero motivation to buy a rifle that only took 2 powder charges made by 1 vendor.

Some states have already opened up the restricted seasons to rounds like 45/70 and other straight wall cartridges (single shots). You can buy those rifles cheap. You can buy the ammo all over. In many cases you can buy that ammo for under $2.70 a shot with the projectile included.

Im considering buying a 450bm or 45-70 for that reason

When you can buy either a ML for $400 or a single shot 450 for the same price and shoot it cheaper.....Why buy the ML? The 450BM will run circles around a smoker and you are not locked into 1 vendors "powder module".

Exactly . That fiddlestick , i like that , is a technilogical blunder.....

The ONLY thing i can see worth a damn is the DeLaval Constriction (ledge) . True black and youd ring barrels . Interesting they have found a way to use this rocket principle . Gotta be the T8 powder .
