i have hunted with the hawken & renegade for nearly 40 years. I have fed the family with them (deer). most shots are bow range. I am partial to the 54 and round ball.

.50, or .54, I like them Equally Well, Each of them Shoot Conicals just as well as the other. If i was Forced to Choose Between the 2 of them, I would probably go .50 Cal, And The ONLY reason for that would be Slightly less Recoil (Though I’m not Recoil Shy, But less is a Welcoming thing ) I really enjoy my .50s and .54s, I own several of Both.

Do you Cast by chance? If so, I HIGHLY advise the Lyman Plains Bullet, I have it in .50 and .54 Cal, They are 2 of my ALL time Favorite Bullets, And VERY WELL Proven in 1:48 Twist

Looks like they dont make a .45 version of it. Is there something else close to it in .45? I should probably just buy another gun and get back into .50s.

I don’t think Lyman ever made a .45 Plains Bullet? At least i have never heard of one

There’s custom barrel Renegades out there in 45 cal.

I know I’ve heard of them. That would have been a TC Custom Shop Deal. I have seen Where Guy’s have put .45 Hawken Barrels in Renegade Stocks, I am Just not Fond of Putting a 15/16” Barrel in a 1” Channeled Stock, and the Fit at the Tang is off. Yes it can be Done, but i prefer a 1” Barrel in a 1” Stock Channel

All Renegades are 1” inch, And the .54 TC Hawken’s are 1” But The .45 and .50 TC Hawkens are all 15/16”
