I hope you will excuse my ignorance, but I just picked up a Whitetail from Doc along with a BH209 breech plug. The plug kit also came with what looks like a striker/firing pin, But for the life of me I can’t figure out how it integrates with the rifle. There is no hole for the bolt handle, and the hole in the back is too small for the spring.

Here is a picture with the original part on the bottom, and the new part included in the kit on the top:

Has to be a mistake. You have to be able to cock the hammer so the bolt has to be able to enter it. Also without the spring I'm with you it's not going to work.
I would stay with the #11cap plunger/hammer/plug. I have never had a problem with them.
BH 209 powder is not recommended in a plunger gun by Western Powders MFG.

You can use the original hammer for the 209 he gave you the other one because they are a kit

The one on top is for either Super 91 or M98. The one on the bottom is forceither a Whitetail, M97 and possibly a Bison model.

That makes sense, should have thought of it myself. Still it's not tapered like the S91 hammer. Thanks Ed!

The one on the bottom IS the 209 kit hammer. If you look you can see the little nub that serves as a firing pin. "G" series #11 hammers are tapered except for very early ones. The one on the top is for sure a "W" series 209 hammer.

What threw me off was him saying the spring wouldn't go inside the upper hammer. I have never seen a 209 hammer for either series in person... I bet he was using the devise (not sure its name, holds the bolt in place) that goes on the spring on the G series rifle to go inside the W series hammer. The springs are interchangeable between the two series.

I thought you could use original hammer for 209 just change breech plug or maybe I'm getting old ? Lol sorry if I gave you wrong information!
