I know TC has a bonded version ,blue tip
Is the hornady red tip a bonded bullet ?

Have you noticed (shot) any bullets with a thicker jacket? Wondering how they expand (perform) compared to a thinner.

My goal with this project was to see how a few of my options would work at the slower speeds I'll likely encounter at long range impact. I did shoot the Fury Star Tip MZ 2 which did not do well on the test. I'm not sure if it was the design, the bonding or the jacket thickness but it did not open with two attempts.

Good to know. I will look at the cross section photos I have to see if the star tip has a thicker jacket. Thanks for the info.

I know you are testing for a specific reason, I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your results with all of us! :2cool::lewis:

Both these SSTs and my copper HP Powerbelts perform better at lower speeds. I just switched back to Goex FFF powder and I'll drop my load down from 85gr FF to 75-80gr FFF at the range next time. That approx bullet speed is usually the ticket up-to 125 yard shots for me.

I have had excellent results with these and the 250 sst from my T/C .50 cals.

i've had excellent performance on deer and hogs with the 250 grain SST bullet. This hog measured 19 inches through the shoulders. Distance was about 35 yards. Muzzle velocity was aboout-1,800 fps. Bullet was found under the skin on the off side.
