Slightly off topic but, is the std Omega breech plug sufficient for BH209? Is there a flavor of primers besides the Remingtons that work well?
CCI 209 primers in both my Omegas. I've used Win & Rem with no issues. The BP in them... IDK but I'd think that if it will handle 150gr pyrodex = 3-pellets that it should hold up to 100-120gr BH 209. I'd no reservations loading that in mine...... but I do not have any 1st hand exp with it, so I would not recommend someone else to do it without doin their own research from ppl that either have done it & know the equivalents of them comparatively. I do not. Best wishes, enjoy your Omega

The Omega plug on the left, TC Triumph plug on the right for a comparsion. The Omega plug has a much shorter flame path than the Triumph, better for igniting BH209. Only Federal or CCI209M's are used in the Triumph plug, I don't think I could trust it with a Winchester primer.

The Omega powder end has a deeper recess, better than a flat face like on a factory CVA breech plug. The factory Omega breech plug is about as good as you can get to reliably ignite BH209. I use Winchester primers in my Omega, I don't worry about it not igniting BH209, even in very cold temps.

Awesome. Great to know. Thank you Good pics too

Vent liner is a removable screw that goes inside the breech plug. It has the flame hole in it. When the hole gets worn too big, accuracy opens up, you just replace the screw and dont have to replace the whole breech plug. Ideal for when you have it setup to work with a specific type of primer that gives no blow by into the breech. Also saves you some money as vent liners are cheaper than breech plugs.

I just, 10 minutes ago, got my new (to me) Omega. Its a beauty. 1:20 twist rate. Shiny clean bore. Nothing on the patch I ran thru it. TC Electra Dot? 3x9 scope. 48 powerbelts that supposed to have shot well in it. QLA looks centered. Will see when i get it to the range.

Ok makes sense, so you can order an aftermarket breech plug that has a vent liner in it? What’s the advantage over that vs the stk plug ( I have 4 new spares on hand)?

Ok so what is a vent liner??? Sorry you guys are light years ahead of me...... I’m used to dropping in 2 pellets & killing deer. This whole rabbit hole side of ML is fascinating!!!
Brotha asking those kinda questions is what this group is all about. I had no clue about BH209 or that there were LR SML's a cpl yrs ago & coming into MML & staying, asking my fair share of questions that waved the rookie flag. I've learned leaps & bounds from being in here for the last 13 mo & have met some amazing man in here as well. Still LOTS to learn. Hope ya stick around too.

Yeah great crew here! I’ll pay it forward someday when I have a clue as to what I’m doing until then hang in there with me!

My stock plug now has a removable vent liner. Just finished it.

Thanks for the fantastic crash course enlightenment on vent liners for all of us that have never seen one or had an ML with one in it. I learned something too.
