I bought a used knight disc. It came with a cheap red dot which is sighted in and I was ringing steel at 100yards. However I would like to put a scope on it. Texas doesn’t have any restrictions for muzzleloader season. I read you want more eye relief. Open to suggestions. I have a couple nice scopes laying around I could put on it.

I don’t currently have a scope on my Knight Disc rifle, but when I did, it was a Zeiss Conquest 3-9. I have a Swarovski Z6i 1.7-10 on my smokeless Encore ML.

Eye relief on a muzzleloader has never been an issue for me.

They kick pretty good. But I don’t feel like I would get scoped. Feels comparable to 3.5” 12gauge loads. I’ll see how the leupold 4x12 fits.

The Leupold will work very well on your rifle.:lewis:

And Nikon is no longer in the scope making business. They also can no longer repair or replace them. They give you a voucher for other Nikon merchandise you can ONLY use at their webstore.

The dealo with the Knight and some other MLs is mounting points. The action in short and 2 piece bases dont leave much room to move the scope around. A Nikon or Bushnell with 5" of eye relief for example are hard to move far enough forward to be useable. Any relief over 4" and under 3.5" starts to run into issues UNLESS you buy a 1 piece rail that is long enough.

Some rails like the really cheap Weaver stuff are just junk imo. Extruded 6061 will get beaten to death eventually. You want steel, SS or 7075 T6 billet for a good base/s.

Here is the spacing you need to consider and why a rail will be far more flexible vs 2 piece bases.

I have a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 on my Omega and I have been very happy with it. I find the glass excellent in low-light conditions. They use to sell for around $400 or maybe a little less when you could find them on sale. But that was probably around 6-7 years ago. Not sure if Zeiss even makes a scope in that price range anymore?

On my T/C Pro Hunter .50 caliber, I've got a Leopold Rifleman 3-9X40. It's been on the T/C for about 8 years with no problems.
On my CVA Paramount .45, I've got a Minox ZA5 3-15X50. Just bought the Paramount 3 months ago, I like the setup so far.

Burris E1 for a decent scope , light weight and good eye relief.
I particularly like the E1 reticle.
Easy on the budget too.
Other than that have a price range in mind?

My advice. Spend at least S200.00. I would go with a 2X7, 2X8, or 3X9 3X10 power. 40 mm objective max. multi-coated. I personally like a good old fashioned reticle but certainly feel free to select one ballistic drop reticles. They for the most part work as advertised. I just feel that they are cluttered, and prefer the simpler reticle. Pretty much any brand at the price point listed. You name it, Leupold, Bushnell, Burris just to name a few.

Mine wears a Leupold 3x9x40, and my other one a older Bausch and Lomb also 3x9x40. I bought a bunch of those on clearance because they were at price to good to pass on. I figured they would get mounted on future rifles and that is what they did. I also have an old 2x7 Redfield floating around here some where.

I've got a Leupold VX-R 3-9x on my Knight Mountaineer and couldn't be happier. Love the fact that it has a red dot (firedot) in the reticle which is superb in low light. I think the VX-R is now discontinued but there are other firedot scopes that are available.

The CrossFire II scope by Vortex is one of the best scopes for the money in my humble opinion.

You can get them with a BDC reticle, which is always helpful with a muzzleloader.
Although the bullet drop may not be the same as a centerfire cartridge, with a little practice and a dope chart it makes the rifle better equipped for harvesting deer.

If you watch for sales you should be able to find a VX-Freedom 3-9x40 on sale for $200-250. ATM the TriMOA and 3-9x50 im finding for just under $250 but ive seen the standard duplex version for right at $200 a few times. IIRC it was Sportsman Warehouse that sometimes has them that cheap.

Another scope i would watch for going on sale is the Viper HS 2.5-10x44. That is a $400+ scope that MidwayUSA often has on sale for $250.

It’s my understanding that Meopta is making a scope that’s basically identical to the old Conquests. I still see 3-9 Conquests showing up fairly regularly on hunting message boards in new or as new condition in the $300-350 range.

Lots of good scope choices.
If you want to shoot at distance, think about scopes with external turret adjustment.

If you’re worried about eye relief, get in the prone position when mounting the scope and lean into the gun - set it there as your eye will never be closer.
