Thx GM. Yeah the NF are awesome.
But, the NF is $1100 more... plus the Leupold comes with MX4 rings

I'm not a long ranger, but that Leupold on sale for $650 off, seems like a heck of a buy, and has great reviews

I have a mark 5 and really like it. Last year was my first season with it.

I shot it this past weekend. That is one bad a$$ scope and rifle! We broke the rifle in... it took all day, shooting and cleaning. My last 3 shots, 2 were in the same hole, and one about 1/2" away at 200yds, with factory loads....off a crappy rest.

I will say, its a very impressive setup! Ruger precision .300 Win mag, felt like shooting a .243. I know I could have shot accurately out to 400-500 easily. Next time we will stretch her out! :snipe:

FYI Leupold gives a HUGE discount to military and LE, like 40% huge.
The NXS glass is OK for that price range, not great but it is a very solid scope, also heavy. Check to see if your scope is in focus when you have it parallax free. Many NF scopes seem to have this issue where they are out of focus(image is somewhat blurry) when you are parallax free. Three NXS's I had this issue but an older NXS 3.5-15x56 and 1st gen ATACR do not. The 1st gen ATACR glass is better than the NXS and the enhanced ATACR glass is even better that the 1st gen , you can find them used a little over $2k for a 5-25x and you gain some magnification range also. The MK5 have pretty good glass, close to the enhanced ATACR, are much lighter too, but I don't favor 1st FFP for long range.

I've had a number of Leupold scopes, including VX models.

The NXS 5.5-22x50 that I've been shooting for a couple years or more, has none of the "blurry" issues. Its clear and I've had no low light issues to date.
It also allows me to shoot 1.75" groups at 600yds with my muzz.
Are other Nightforce scopes better, surely but, IMO there's not a single thing I'll complain about with my NXS.

I'm not a long range shooter. We have an average shooting bench, and not the best rest. Last weekend I was able to shoot 4 shots in a 3" group at 500yds with this setup, then my cousin sat down and put 2 more right in the same group.

Absolutely impressed at how easy this rifle and especially the scope made shooting 500yds feel - all factory even the ammo. Next time, we'll stretch her out to 600-800 and see how she does. 👍 :snipe:

We shot this gun again last weekend. First time in my life I've shot a target past 500, and I've only shot 500 a couple times.

I shot a 3" group at 600yds, 4" at 700yds, and 5.5" at 800yds (all 3 shot groups w factory Hornady 180gr). Its a heck of a rifle/scope combo, and to do that with an avg shooter... impressive. I'll try and post a pic of 800. I shot 3 then adjusted down, and shot the 4th. Can't complain about that... especially for me 👍 It was fun800yd target .300 RPR.JPG
