I hear you... I've been out once with some 385 gr. Hornady Great Plains bullets at 50 yards and the rifle shows a lot of promise, but I think my older eyes are going to need a peep sight (which I don't yet have). I'm more concerned about the f.p.e. at 200...

It doesn't seem like a good idea. How much drop do you get at 200yds?

Why so far?

Where I hunt I've taken elk from 90 to 400 yards with centerfire rifles, some offhand but most from a rest. From what I've read on this forum I think a 200 yard sidelock is "doable" and would be a fit for where and how I hunt.

If I'm limited to something less than 200 that's fine... for now.

Thanks...

A guy on the monster mulies forum killed a big colorado bull with a white muzzleloader at well over 200 yards a few years back.

I have 2 of them, The original That took the pics above (And i did the Youtube video of) I also have their 28” inch Rigid model, It comes in a nice Magnetic Lid Box, has it’s own Reader (Does video & pics), I also have their angled Mirror Kit that goes up to .50 Cal

They are AWESOME Borescopes, For the Price they can’t be beat.
Kinda wish i hadnt bought one of the Teslongs. I felt better NOT knowing what my Omega bore really looked like.
It really is a great borescope tho.

I did place an order for Bullshop's 460 NEx bullets. With a barrel that just 21" the little TC carries and handles like a dream. However, I'm a little concerned that a 21" 50 cal barrel might not be capable of taking elk at 200 yds (which was my goal).

Your thoughts?
Chrony the load you end up liking... I’d probably start with 70 grains of 3f Swiss. I’ll bet between 70 and 90 grains is where you end up. My 28” LRH likes the ubiquitous “Lewis Load” 80 grains of Swiss 2f. I have not chronographed it yet.

Most likely won't be lobbing 4-500gn bullets at game the same distances that you would with your center fires. I would still do a lot of practicing to know where your hitting at various ranges. Although I never tried shooting at game past 150 yards, I've done a lot of practicing as far as 250. Sure allows you to have more confidence in yourself and the firearm your using.

I have been looking for a peep and have two Lyman 57SML sights on backorder (from two separate places). Does anyone have a good recommendation for a vernier or other peep that is currently available and will work well on a TC Hawken? Thanks

I found a Lyman 57 SML...
