Rubbing alcohol, Gun-Medic, brake parts cleaner spray, Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber, or denatured alcohol are some of the things ive cleaned out triggers with good results. I like something that has a straw that can blast out stuck or gummy stuff in tight spots. Be careful around wood finishes.

I was told to stear clear of brake cleaner, was thinking the same thing about as straw to blow s sit out with. Will have to look for the Birchwood

I dont clean the whole gun with it, just when ive got sticky-icky gummy junk to clear out. Got to use some kind of lube after wards
I was meaning for the trigger assembly only, the two guys I was talking to said not to use it period, the one guys farther was big into blank powder to be died, he always said stay away from it. He turned me onto Birchwood for the bore, or maybe he meant Gun Scrubber.

It worked flawlessly for about 20 shots, now it's starting to not seat when I cock the hammer. To be honest I don't recall tearing the stock off of it when I was cleaning it, so thinking trigger area might just be dirty as sin, & seeing how it's mostly a close unit I thought a little lubrication might be in order, but was told oil could help it gum up worse instead of making it better. Never thought about using rubbing alcohol to clean it.
Yes don't add to the gunk. Parts clean that thing and freshen it up. Light lube when oiling. Happy shooten

That's a really thin shim. I have been using the same primers since I bought the gun, have fired about 30 or so thus far
I used the shim pack from cva website it had probably 8 different shims that you stack up together to get the fit you need. Have done it 3 times now to other guns for my hunting buds they had the same problems with blowby and this fixed the problem cva knows this is a problem with all of the different 209 primers know brands are the same dimensions that's why they make the shim kits. Mine will use Winchester federal without issue now and my breach stays clean now good luck getting it to run without issues

I wonder if he meant to stay away from Chlorinated brake parts cleaner? I only use non-chlorinated. Chlorinated cleaner is nasty stuff, surprised they still make and sell it.

Electro-Clean it will clean all carbon off and out of bore but it stinks and it will burn your skin because it evaporates very fast and don't spray on anything that is plastic or rubber. I use it for the bore and breech plug and use balistol after it's the fastest way to clean bore and plug. You need to be outside don't let it drip onto carpet or your wife will never you for get it.

Breakfree, brakekleen, carb cleaner, etc will eat the rubberized finish on the CVA stocks...just a drop on mine for a few seconds and it started to peel...YMMV.
Carb cleaner is, imho, one of the nastier chemicals out there. I dont even use it to clean carbs anymore. Its a great paint stripper and if you want to give someone ALL the cancer it would be right up there with the white asbestos and plutonium.

Nice thing about owning my home, is in my name, my girlfriend isn't on the deed or the mortgage, I can do as I please, lol. But from the sounds of it, I'll be in the garage doing it

Did i miss it? How have you made out with the trigger problem?
I bought a can of Ballisto & a can of gun scrub. Hosed it down with both, seems to be working OK, have to out it back on the bench & sight it back in, will wrench the plug in a bit & see if that helps out, too cold now to do it comfortably, lol, & hunting seasons over so no hurry

Electro is for carbon it is not the same as carb clean or brake clean

The firing pin bushing needs shiming not the breach plug. Head space for primer. Not breach plug spacing. You should not have any blowby in the fire pin area.
