    Louisiana Hunting Regulations

I ran across a post about using smokeless powder during primitive weapons season. The post, as it related to Louisiana was incomplete, as it would have to be, given that almost nothing is simple in Louisiana law. This is a link to the LDWF web site: https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/

Why don’t they make more smokeless Muzzleloaders?

Ah, but the Savage is not amenable to being played with as is the Rossi or CVA. I build my own breech plugs to take cartridge cases, then load projectiles from the front on top of the propellant. These are a couple of the breech plugs I made. They need support at the breech end.

Why don’t they make more smokeless Muzzleloaders?

I recently found a Savage Model 10ML-II at a gun shop. It had been neglected, had some rust on the barrel and scope mount, a charge in the chamber. I had to make a tool to remove the charge, but the barrel was pristine. I cleaned it up, took the bolt apart, and gave it to a friend at another...

The Paper Jacket by Paul A Matthews

I use my Paypal debit card for most of my online and a lot of my fuel purchases. Every time I make a purchase I get an email motifying me of it. I rarely have had a problem, and when I have it was rectified almost immediately.

    Fluxing

Nope. Wet, right out of the drip pot. No explosion, the wet grounds are too light to penetrate the lead surface.

    Fluxing

I would imagine sawdust has all sorts of interesting rsins in it. I just put about tablespoon of used coffee grounds on the top of the melt, move it around on top, skim it off after a couple of minutes as a fine gray powder. It reduces the lead oxide in the skim.

    Obsolete cartridges/rifles

A pistol is a pistol is a pistol. Sight picture, grip and trigger pull. We have an enclosed porch, now my wife's art studio, that's 36'x16'. I have a target set up at one end and shoot from the other, about 28'. I shoot an old Mark 1 in .177 and a 2240 in .22. I'm old, not as steady as I used...

    Obsolete cartridges/rifles

Planned obsolescence in firearms, IMHO, is a ploy firearms manufacturers use to sell new guns. I go to gun shows fairly often and the most of the dealer tables are covered with AR-15 and AK-47 knockoffs in various calibers, and autoloading pistols, mostly plastic. If a person wants a firearm...

    Fluxing

I have two sorts of lead I use, one fairly pure, the other hard that was in the place when I bought it; I figure it is mostly wheel weights. Neither variety is particularly clean, and I reuse my projectiles as I am mostly interested in bullet velocity and fire into a box filled with garden...
