A year ago, I took delivery of a Bestill custom ,45 Omega. Just a fantastic rifle. I like it so much, I decided to pick up another Omega trigger/action to have on hand for another custom build in the future. I found a blued Omega barrel with the stainless trigger action on eBay for a really good price and purchased it last week I installed the barrel/action in an old plastic Omega stock I had laying around and mounted an old Nikon Prostaff 3 scope that I also had laying around. I figured that until I have Jeff build me another custom rifle, I could use it as a loaner to some friends I am trying to move out of a slug gun to a muzzleloader. I shot it yesterday and it took 3 shots at 100 yd to get the scope set and shooting a group, with the first load I tried. The Omegas can sure shoot.

I love my Omega, but hate the stock. I plan on getting a Boyds here soon.

That camo goes well with the blue barrel.
Yeah, it does. From what I can find, TC never offered that combination. The camo stock was always with a stainless or camo weathershield barrel. I bought it mainly for the stainless trigger/action and wasn't to concerned about the shape of the barrel it is really in excellent shape. A couple of small pits in the QLA at the muzzle and a couple of small worn areas in the bluing on the exterior. The bore is perfect.

Today, I got a chance to shoot again and try some different loads. I took 3 shots to warm up and foul the barrel and then shot 3 shots of 5 different loads at 100 yd. The rifle isn't picky about loads. 100 gr BH209 used for all loads. Loads listed from top target first then clockwise: Hornady 250 XTP/ MMP HPH-24 sabot(the flyer was the second shot after receiving a 10 min phone call so it's on me), Barnes 250 TEZ/supplied sabot, Cutting Edge 210 Maximus/MMP HPH green sabot, Hornady 250 Monoflex/supplied sabot, Traditions 275 T-Shock/supplied sabot(a Parker Hydra-Con packag ed under Traditions label - the flier was the first shot and was on me, too). When I eventually strip this rifle down for a Bestill custom Omega smokeless build, I will have a great factory barrel to sell.20190211_121053.jpg

Good shooting. PS, leave cell phone in the truck.:)
