Looks like Winchester Stole/borrowed this idea from some wildcatter's :

Something old is new again?
But should help the rest of us that want to start-up with this concept ;)

Winchester thought they had this one in the bag. Heard they won't have rifles and ammo ready until June.

I heard yesterday that Ruger and Hornady will have rifles and ammo possibly next month. MGM Will also have barrels ready next month as well.I also heard that Randy's in Bad Axe was promised the first 1500 rifles from Ruger.

CVA already has a Scout V2 cataloged as well. Not sure when it will be ready, but this is the one I'll be getting. Probably trade or sell my Ruger .450 Bushmaster. That way I'll have a matched pair of Scout V2 takedowns. .450 Bushmaster and .350 Legend.

That will surely put a damper on Winchesters Rifle and Ammo sales. It's a dog eat dog works out there. You better be ready for production our already be producing when you bring something like this to the SHOT Show. Better luck next time Winchester.!

I'm assuming that this rifle might be ok for some of the younger shooters, or even those who are recoil shy. It appears that the round will be more of a short range round when compared to say the .450 Bushmaster.
However...…… its new and people will jump all over it, spending a ton of money like they did with the Bushmaster. Hey, its good for the economy I guess.

That CVA Legend might make a good .35 Remington rechamber since they dropped it from production. I had been looking for one and it seems that available stock has dried up. I love the .35 Remmy!

Hope Iowa DNR looks at this with a view to updating our permissible calibers for pistol-caliber rifles in gun seasons - though I'll most likely keep on with my frontstuffers in all seasons, those years when I'm able to find a piece of public land that isn't saturated with other hunters. Thanks for posting - otherwise I'd never have known about this new chambering! I used to subscribe to every shooting magazine out there; now I just get American Rifleman & a bunch of email I don't have time to read. (Really enjoying this forum, though - more wisdom & maturity here than on most others I've tried.)

Just checked your Iowa Requirements, and this fits the criteria. Nothing I read says it has to be a "Pistol Caliber".

"
Rifle Equipment:

  • Centerfire rifles .357 caliber or larger, shooting straight-walled ammunition with an expanding-type bullet where:
    • Straight-walled, centerfire, rimless cartridges have bullets that are from 0.357" to 0.500" in diameter and have a case length from 0.850" to 1.800"
    • Straight-walled, centerfire, rimmed cartridges have bullets that are from 0.357" to 0.500" in diameter and have a case length from 1.285" to 1.800"
  • Those centerfire cartridges that are listed as legal in Iowa’s hunting regulations"

It's .357" caliber, and the straight walled rimless case length is 1.71". Fits the criteria. So does the .450 Bushmaster (amongst others), and neither are classified as "Pistol Calibers".

E. Arthur Brown is already offering Encore barrels, per today's email. It's not in the text listing, but is available in the drop-down list of chambering selections. https://www.eabco.net/Made-To-Order...=350+Legend+Barrels+Available+to+Custom+Order

Looks like it’s pretty much identical to the 357 max. I hunt with a 13in Contender g2 357max pistol a lot. My hunting buddy has a 20in 357max rifle barrel for his Contender and I have a 23in 35rem barrel. They both make great little light guns for those way back in the woods spots. I prefer the 200gr out of the 35rem for deer though. I’m out of Hornady 180gr SSP’s and have been shooting the 180gr xtp’s in my 357max. I hope with this round out they will be more 35cal bullets available for reloaders.

Bellim TC’s has pushed the 357max in the Contender and Encore pretty hard for a long time.

The 350 Legend uses .355" bullets in a .357" barrel. Maybe Iowa will revise their regs to include the 350 Legend.

Wouldn't be ideal. They have finally came out with the bullet and barrel dimensions. Was posted somewhere that they are using .357" barrels with .355" bullets.

Yeah, I saw that posted somewhere a few days ago too. That was just the Full Metal Jacket ammo, so it's possible but not likely, the other factory ammo will be .357"? Talk about Winchester shooting themselves in the foot!

Michigan set the low limit at .35 caliber, so no problems here. The states with the .357" low limit, also shot themselves in the foot

The 350 Legend is legal to use in Iowa. The Drury’s and Winchester already checked with the Iowa DNR. The Drury’s already killed several deer in Iowa last year with the 350 Legend.

They gave the Iowa DNR all the bullet specs but wouldn’t tell them what it was because it was still a prototype and a secret.

By the definition in the Iowa Regulations, it would not be legal to use with 0.355" diameter/caliber bullets, even if it does have a 0.357" diameter/caliber bore. The bullets diameter would need to be between 0.357" and 0.500".

I know the Drury's were hunting with them, that's why I said the hunting bullets are possibly 0.357" diameter, and not 0.355" like the FMJ's? if they are only 0.355" in diameter as well, then they were hunting illegally as to the letter of the law. It's pretty clear in the regulations!
