Bagged this 11 point late in Indiana muzzleloader season 120 yards with a Lehigh Defense 265 grain controlled fracture bullet and 90 grains of Blackhorn. This buck was traveling with a younger 10 point I had seen quite a few times during season Even though my MR shoots the Barnes a little more accurately, these bullets are no joke They will be stuffed down my barrel next year too!upload_2019-3-5_9-12-34.jpeg

Outstanding, congrats.

Can you share a bit about how the bullet performed? Pass through? How deep did the petals go?

Probably not a perfect test of this bullet. We did take a doe with the bullet later this season and it destroyed the vitals on a broadside shot. The lungs were shredded and the base had a pass through while the petals were just under the skin on the far side. The buck pictured went down instantly. The amount of blood you see is about half of what was on the ground. I’ve neck shot deer with slugs, SST’s, Barnes along with a couple high powered rifle shots. I’ve never seen a bullet inflict this much trauma.

Congrads! That is one Fine Buck! :bravo:

I too shoot the Lehigh 265 CF. Shot the Bloodline prior to it. They are Great bullets. It is a bullet that is hard to wrap your mind around and try but the performance, well it is really something you just have to see.

Where did you hit that deer? It looks like a bullet hole right at the front of the neck.

I will tell you the story. I was videoing my nephew on this particular hunt. I was in the tree above him in my Summit Viper. The bucks came in from my side of the tree (behind my nephew) down a dried up creek bed. He handed his MR up to me and told me to bust the buck and I swapped the camera down to him. Once I threw the gun up and looked at him through the scope, there were so many limbs in the way, I couldn't get a clear shot even though they were only about 70 yards away. I was up pretty high in the tree and the bucks were down hill at a pretty steep angle. Try as I might, I could not get a clean look and had to let them walk away. I could only see the tops of their backs as they were going down the creek bed. My nephew thought the hunt was over and actually shut the camera off. At about 120 yards, the lead buck paused. I'm pretty sure he smelled us as he was downwind now. He turned his body toward me and stared in our direction. Through my scope, his body and head were obscured with small limbs, but there was a hole I could shoot through at his neck with him facing me. Shooting out of my Summit with the climber rail is almost as good as sandbags. I steadied the duplex of the Leupold on the center of his neck and knowing the bullet I was shooting, I knew if I did my part, this would be a clean kill. At the crack of the gun, I could see the white fur in my scope and he went straight back. I was sure of my shot, but didn't know if he went down as the other buck busted out of there. My nephew got down and went to check it out because I couldn't see down into the creek bed. It turns out the Lehigh Defense Controlled Fracture dropped him like a bag of hammers!! The blood was everywhere. All over the ground, up under rocks and on surrounding trees. It was as if the bullet shredded his neck while also busting his spine. I'm a Barnes guy and it would take a lot to get me to shoot something different. This bullet impressed the heck out of me.
