Has any of you ever stripped a Ultralite stock? I assume the Kevlar is simular to a plastic composite?
I'm just looking to repaint my stock to something different and need advice on a chemical stripper. Thanks.

Why strip it ? I would just sand down prime or seal then paint.

I own a body shop and paint for a living. Sometimes chemical strippers can do way more harm than good. I do not have a Ultralight stock are the textured ?

I agree with Doug. Don't bother stripping it. Just sand down the webbing and clean it real well then prime and paint. I wouldn't use a chemical stripper on that expensive stock.

I agree. Chemical strippers would be very hard on the composite part of the stock. Sanding would be the best way to go. I use a Stripper called Citristrip, it is a Citris based stripper. Non toxic and can be used in confined spaces like My apartment. Smells like Oranges. That stuff will melt composite items. I used it once on a Remington BDL High Gloss varmint stock (the old Varmint Special stock). It almost ruined the Black plastic forend tip on the stock. Took a lot of sanding to get it to look smooth and the right shape again.

What color is your UL stock. I have the Dark Green and love it.

Thanks guys! I am glad I asked. I've painted a lot of stocks but I have never started with one that was already painted. Good advice.

What color is yours now and what ya got planned for the new color?

My is green and I just was thinking of making it lighter in color and different than others.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty happy with it. Similar to sponge painting, but I used paper towels. I did a solid base color, then webbing for texture, then my camo colors on top with the paper towel tecnique to cover up the webbing. Then I finished with coats of matte clear to protect it. Super simple and inexpensive.

Great Job! That came out looking real cool! :bravo:

Did you bake the cerekote?
