Agreed with your toothpick solution, but apparently insulting to you in some way. So what is your recommended low-tech less than 30 minute fix to move hammer .050 to .060”?
Thought I hit the send button late yesterday, but obviously didn’t. Found myself hinking about shiming the lock and had a question. Thought about lock protruding.06 or so away from the barrel post toothpick shimming. Imagined the .06” or so gap may be creating quite the crap trap for powder residue. Thoughts, or am I off base.

Yesterday I decided to give it a go. Heated up with a propane torch. Took around four or five minutes to heat. never did turn cherry red. I heqted it right on the arch and it was easy to bend with a pair of pliers at that point. Turned out pretty well. Then I quenched it in oil. First is a before pic and the next 3 are after.

Thank you for everyone's advice and suggestions. Turned out very well for an amateur

Looks great my friend! In the past I’ve solved a similar problem by installing a very small screw in the lock mortise of the stock which would rest up against the inner Lockplate. The lock could then be adjusted by turning the screw out or inboard thus centering the hammer cup over the nipple. Definitely wouldn’t be a permanent fix to my liking but would suffice until later? Takes a couple of minutes give or take.

Respectfully, Cowboy

Good job. Very few here make a living as sidelock gunsmith (not sure who they are). The rest are amateurs. Not a very exclusive club. Guessing you will fit right in.

Haha. That's me ... amateur. In full disclosure for future amateur sidelock manipulators. When I had it just right I screwed the sidelock back on and it was off center from where I thought it was gpgoing be. The heat and bending did work but when I snugged it all up it needed to go another millimeter. I wrapped it with a rag and took the pliers and gently bent it right into place. Actually pretty soft. Now it is centered and ready to roll. Now I just need a set of sights
