No, I no they aren't. I did ask about them and they were not sure when the might come up on their site or if they might be sold though another Suppliers web site. Guess they might still be negotiating that part.

If they let me know I will let you-all know as soon as I know.

Ok thanks. Hope if going thru another supplier they don’t jack the price up.

I finally made it to the range for a short while this morning. The rifle belonged to my dad until he passed almost two years ago. He liked shooting pellets, but couldn't find any combo that shot well with two pellets, but three did well with several bullets. It had been zeroed last for 300gr deep curl and Harvester SB sabot.

I fired 10 shots with 100gr BH and the deep curl/harvester combo. Groups were a little over an inch with clean bore shots opening up a touch more. I also fired two rounds of 80gr and 240 xtp with green crush rib sabot. Those two were 1.25" apart (all 100 yards). The rifle definitely has potential.

12 rounds resulted in only a hint of residue in the breech area and on the bolt. Primers fell out with no issues and were totally clean except for the nose. The breech plug had virtually no blowback in the threads and the primer pocket had very little hard buildup. It was a lot faster to clean that either my Accura or my son's Impact breech plugs are. The only complaint is several times it took a couple tries to get the primer into the adapter correctly- need more practice. Overall I am well pleased so far. Thanks again everyone for the help.

:wall: Hope the mountaineer breech plugs get marketed soon.

I checked LeHigh's website and saw another addition, alright!, they finally added the Mountaineer plug:2cool: Then I see it's a CVA plug:bang: Do we need another CVA breech plug? How about that Mountaineer plug you told me would be in stock a month ago:moon:

I read the first part of your post and was headed to the Lehigh site but then noticed the second part, all I can say is this Hillbilly ain’t happy.

Mountaineer breech plugs are in stock now. Happy happy, happy!

There are several of you folks that I need help from regarding my Disc Extreme for which I have converted to bare 209s with the Lehigh product. After reading everything I could find about ignition, blow back, primer crush etc., I decided to try Remington STS primers. I purchased some of the shimming washers recommended for obtaining adequate primer crush. Per suggestions I was shooting for .003 to .005 of crush.
So I started by checking primers for length and got .292, .293, and .294. Nicely consistent. Tried a .294 length for crush and none was measurable. But it was oddly difficult getting the bolt started rearward.
Put a .241 x .005 shim and was surprised to find that it was tight in the bottom of the primer pocket. Tried a couple more .294s and got about .001 of crush. Very hard to start it the bolt rearward!
BTW, I found that it is very tricky measuring the part of a primer that actually gets crushed since the crushed part is barely inside the outer edge. Checked the primer pocket I.D and found it to be .239(?) Checked my primers and they run consistently .241. Tried to insert a primer by hand and no go. I should add here that the bolt does not close hard.
Added a second .241 x .005, the bolt was nearly impossible to start rearward and the crush was about .005 more as expected.
At this point I was thinking that the primers might be crushing end wise AND expanding in girth which would explain the difficult extraction. I picked out the shims and tried a .248 Dia. to see if they were even useable. I tapped one in gently a little bit using a sanded down 1/4 in. Dowel. Predictably the .248 shim was deformed and not going to be usable. I will of course shoot this rifle a few times without shims and see if the tight primer pocket was by Lehigh’s design. If minimal blowback without shims I may find that I need need not shim with the right primers.
Whaddya think?

Rem STS primers have a wider nose than a Win209. They will be sticky if you dont polish out the primer pocket a little. A Win209 is something like .236 on the nose. A Rem STS is like .241.

A Win209 has quite a bit of taper to it. A Rem STS does not.

My 52 DE had a bare primer plug with a convex face but also had the 209 Lehigh bolt adapter. Closed perfectly. This was the way it came from previous owner.
I purchased Lehighs bare 209 plug with a vent liner.....for the DE
Now the bolt won’t close. I’ve installed these before with no issues...have I forgotten something?

The new plug is longer on the 209 stem side, the threaded body length to the seat is the same. The new plug in the pig has Teflon tape on it

thanks, Greg

Maybe a mountaineer plug, they are longer. There is a difference also between the knight primer adapter, and the Lehigh primer adapter.

IIRC there are 2 adapters. One is pre-Lehigh and they wont interchange with a Lehigh plug. I have an original Knight bare primer conversion like that. So you have to have a Lehigh NFPJ adapter with the Lehigh plug and vice versa.

Will the bolt close with NO adapter and the plug installed? With and without a primer?

Left is brand new Lehigh, right is a Knight.

This is the Lehigh measurement.

I have used this Knight plug in both my DISCs with the Lehigh adapter. It worked fine. I didn't shim it tho.

You didnt have the ORIGINAL Knight bare primer conversion did you? Those were not made by Lehigh. All current plug parts are made by Lehigh but Knight had them many years before that too.

It probably IS a Lehigh made bare primer plug. With the soldered in vent liner. It came with a bare primer kit bolt conversion kit that i bought from Knight a couple years ago, maybe. But it looks like its made from dif metal. I won't be using it. GregK, if you want this one I will send it to you.
