Im a Leupold fan also. From my understanding this freedom line is ment to replace the vx1, Rifleman, and possibly some of the vx2 line. I've read that it shares the same glass and coatings as the vx2 line from last year. If that's true these will be a huge hit. The price sure is appealing! I will be trying one before to long.

The VX-Freedom replaced the VX-1 & VX-2. I am being told by Leupold that it is the old VX-3 glass, before the VX-3i. This significantly increases the glass quality in these scopes, and somehow they were able to bring the price point of the UltimateSlam down a little.

Don't be afraid to look at the new Leupold-made Redfield Revolution series scopes. They're USA made and I am throughly impressed with them particularly compared to some of my Leupold VX-1 and VX-2 models of even 10 years ago. They have made major advancements in lens coatings in the last decade.

Mine was advertised as built in Oregon The Revenge series were made in the Philippines.

VX Freedom replaced both VX1 and VX2. Glass used is basically VX2 glass. You can buy a Freedom in the "Ultimate Slam" version if you really like their BDC. Redfield Revolutions have the same reticle called Accu-Range and im not really a fan of it.
