The other day I was just dinging around and actually conversing with a guy at Lehigh - he asked me if I would like to try a new bullet they were building for Umarex. What's Umarex I asked? it is a pellet gun! Well my interest kinda dropped in a hurry - pellet gun! What am I going to do with a .17 pellet! Then he says it is a .510x238CF sabotless copper bullet! WHAT!!! Anyway I was a bit worried about the size .510 going down a ML bore, but that turns out to be OK also.

So I looked up the 'Pellet Gun' online - it does exist and it is 50 cal. And it is used for hunting - who would know.

The sample bullets arrived yesterday. So I did some checking this morning - I think they will work

The drive barbs are .510 and the top band around the bullet is .502 - so they might actually work

I have a little concern about trying them in my .501 bores but in the .502 Wolverine and the .504 White - they shouldn't be a problem.

So hopefully I will get out to the farm and run a few through the Wolverine - They might really be good ML deer bullets???

With those slits you might need some type of center punch to start them. Anything that only touches the very center of the hollow point and not the sides.

That is a valid thought! Hopefully I will know more tomorrow.

Here is a hunting video

Wish there wasn't as much advertising in it but it in the end it is exciting!.

That was cool. Would have been nice to hear how far the shot was but I never heard him say. Be interesting to see how those shoot for ya. Do you think they will need to be resized or just a pop from a short starter? Sounds like just a short starter.

I am pretty sure with the 502 bore of the Wolverine it will load with just the short starter. I know with the .504 White it will go down almost with just the ram rod.

After I shoot it and if it shoots well then I will test a regular .501 Knight bore. My other thought is if Lehigh could reduce the .502 portion of the bullet down to .501 or even .500 it could be used in many rifles -IF- it performs. Problem is that it may be a CONTRACT bullet being built for another company. If so it is their dimensions that are being used.

Another thought I have and I can not remember if I mentioned it, because it will operate down to 1000 fps - it really could be used as a low recoil bullet using a reduced charge and reduced range for younger shooters.

Hog shot I am not sure of the distance either - I am almost sure it was from 50 to 75 yards. But still from a 'pellet' gun.

Ive shot a .45 air rifle with a conical type bullet at a spinner type target at 65-70 yds and it smacked the crap out of it..never hunted anything with one though, biggest one Ive hunted with is a .25 caliber.
They have killed Elk and African plains game with those air rifles in the bigger calibers.

ERMAGERD! That air rifle is pretty serious gun porn! They have come a LONG way.
Say Jackie Bushman whip a doe with a 45 cal air rifle. 300 gr at 1000 fps iirc. Got a pass through. She didn't go far.

lol, now this has me thinking about some stuff...
What kind of residue does compressed air leave in the barrel?
Can you shoot sabots?
What do you clean air residue with?
Pure lead or alloy? Or copper?
Is it legal on deer in Michigan?
Does it cause cancer in Kalifornia?
What's gonna happen after someone shoots up a school with an airgun?
Can it shoot duplex loads? Like Co2 and air?
Do they make a muzzleloader version?
Who REALLY killed Kennedy? Did he use an air rifle?
