Going to purchase a new Muzzleloader, trying to decide on the Wolf or the Optima? shots will be under 200 yrds, most likely 150 yrds max, only on Whitetail deer ( Average 175-200) Live weight, hunting from ladder stand or ground blind( pop up, hub style) This will be my Second Rifle so to speak to hunt with, will use during our gun season also, plan to use Blackhorn 209 for powder

I do not own either, I have an Apex, but have shot both the Wolf and Optima. The Optima would be my choice of the two.

Given the choice between those two, the Optima would be going home with me, but both would work. I think the stock design of the Optima makes it friendlier to the shooter.

Owned both. Both excellent in their own right, but I much prefer the Optima. The break open latching on the Wolf is located on the front of the trigger guard. It tends to snag on things causing it to open while hunting. The Optima is on the back of the guard and haven’t had any problems whatsoever. I now own an Accura MR Nitride. It may possibly be the best hunting muzzleloader ever produced. Shoulder one and you’ll see what I mean.

Given a choice between the two, I'd go with the Optima. Both are good rifles and will serve you well but I like the latch release of the optima better.

If money is not an issue, you should look at the Accura MR. Its shorter length makes it a great ml for tight places like popup blinds and tree stands. And still capable of 200 yards if you do your part.
x2 for the Accura MR.

How does the T/C Impact stand up against these two, ? just found a new one unfired I can get for $200

Another vote for the Optima V2 super easy to shoot an very accurate with 300gr. XTP/Harvester smooth or crushrib sabots. Mine is the nitride model for late season nasty weather hunting.
Last T/C product I owned with a QLA was an Encore, so no help on the Impact.

I’ve got a tc impact, absolute tack driver, comfortable to me, currently shooting 110 grains of blackhorn by volume, 250 tez Barnes with the factory sabot, and a Winchester 209. It’s a fantastic gun and I love it. Shot it the other day at 107 yards 6 times at clay pigeons and hit them all. I’ll upload a picture of a three shot group for you. I don’t think you would be disappointed, only difference is I have the new impact with the speed Breech and weather shield. Have a wonderful day sir.

Well Bud's Guns had a sale goin or price drop or something, Picked up the T/C Impact for $189. Ordered the scope base and all ready have a nice scope and rings waiting for a ride . Any help with loads will be appreciated. Going to use the Blackhorn soon as I find some

I have a Wolf going on 3 years now. Shoot it a lot and with 100 grains of loose 777 it will group 2" or less with just about any projectile I put in it. My shots are limited to 120 yards so Im good. I do agree with the comment about the release being in front of the trigger guard. If you are involved in deer drives in thick cover you do need to keep an eye on it. But I love mine.

Got the Impact, Just waiting on the scope rings to be delivered. I plan on using 90 gr of blackhorn bhind a 250 gr sabot, ( right now I have some Traditions sabots that came from walmart) but will more than likely go to the T/C barnes EZ after these are gone. how does everone carry reloads in the field IE, loose powder and Bullet??

I use Lane's tubes for pre-measured powder powder and sabot/bullet field use.

I use the Lane tubes for powder. Don’t know what size to order for the sabot-bullets comes.

I've used the Thompson Center quick shot loaders while hunting for years now. I also have some Western Powder style tubes that I use for the range.
