Just like to get you a heads up on my latest status....
Today, I had a nice conversation with Corey from CBJ - precisionengineeredrifles.
He walked me through their possible builds, based on TC break action or Rem/ Savage bolt action. For long range, he recommended a bolt action. The bolt action ones are available as FFL and non-FFL.
Starting at 1.8k.

Until now, I have to say that the two speeches I had were absolutely nice and I really appreciate the open discussions and advice.

For me a real big plus in my process, while figuring out the right choice!

Same for all of you, who left their thoughts and suggestions....

I wish you luck if you go with CBJ. You will need it.

lwh723, as I mentioned earlier, got scammed in the past already and really don't want that a second time. That's the disadvantage, when you don't live in the US....
Otherwise, I'd visit them and talk to them F2F.

Anyway, looks like you saved my $$$.

Thx a lot lwh723!

All,

just wanted to keep you posted about my current status.

I was still in deep research of the shipment story to CZ. Due to a bunch of additional (useless) costs, I needed to step away for now from a SML purchased in the US for now. I'm really sad about it and angry, too.
The additional costs on the US side (export license, admin fees) and those on the CZ side (import license, tax fees) are adding around 1-1.5k on top of the rifle.

Thus being said, I need to end up doing my own build at this time, which must be based on a REM 700 UML. This is available over here for around 1k new. I already asked for the parts needed to get t set-up. Those can be purchased without any restrictions/ problems.

It was a hard and kind of forced decision to be made, especially that I got a lot of very good support from some of you. Nevertheless, when I'm going to get my set-up done, I might for sure come back to you for some advice :)

I'll keep you posted.......

Hi all,

just another short update...

Received the following parts to move on:

5/8 x 18 LRMP breech plug
sizing die
.308 BF LRMP modules
.250 recoil lug
go / no-go gauge set
thin wall socket to install breech plug

Furthermore, I ordered a SS barrel, which is of contour #17 Krieger and .45-70. Will be a 26" one finished. Was thinking to get it fluted but decided not to do it and keep the style clean and simple though.
It will get 3/4 x 24 threads on the muzzle to have the option for a muzzle break and silencer.

The barrel is going to be manufactured the next couple of weeks from this guy here:

Keep you posted ;)

.....time goes by..... the barrel blank is going to be finished. Yeah!

In the meantime, my wife's cousin, who's a police officer in Prague, found a well known gunsmith for me in CZ.

He well do the threading job for the module plug, breech fit and muzzle along the installation on the action.

...more to come....

Well, again a month later..... and I have exciting news :)
The barrel blank arrived. Now I need to get the RUM700ML and visit the gunsmith to get the barrel threaded and chambered.

Maybe I'll also ask for a bolt truing.....

Ziva you are having a loooong journey but destiny is on the horizon. Also look forward to pics.

Yeah indeed, it's somehow long and for sure not the typical way to deal with our, like it would be in the US but I'm much more confident to reach my goal :)

Thanks for your interest!

Don't know how i can help you out but Im watching your progress with much interest. And offer what support i can. You have some different obstacles to deal with over there.

Michiganmuzzy, thanks a lot for offering your support, I'm pretty sure that I'll come back on it ;-)

The biggest obstacle in fact is the issue to purchase a full build from the US.
And in addition that not that many shooters are interested to invest that money into a SML because a good Rem 700 .308 is cheaper.

Since I like the MLs and you don't need to apply for a license, for it's the best option to get into long range shooting....

I have had direct dealings with Arrowhead and Badbull. Both have been great.

Happy Sunday! Hope all of you agree doing well these crazy and challenging times!
Over here, everything is going well...

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, I'm not able to continue on my build but still keep my plan to get it (hopefully) done this year.

In the meantime, I saw the Shockwave self-timing muzzle brake from Patriot Valley. Looks great and I think I need to get one :)

Keep you posted....

Stay healthy!
