Have shot many lbs of Goex with T/C New Englanders and Renegades ( prb). Acquired first inline recently; Traditions Vortek strikerfire, blackhorn209 powder and Fed BOR lock 350 gr lead bullets. Got 23 rds off yesterday, sighted at 100 yards. Peep sight for old eyes. 110gr by volume. With the 30" how fast do y'all figure the bullet is?

Thanks

I looked on prbullets exterior ballistics tables for their 340 gr. dead centers and it shows 1795 fps for 110 gr. of 777. Blackhorn is just a bit faster than 777, but not a lot. The BOR will lose velocity faster than the Precision Rifle bullets, but the starting velocity should be close to that. My buddy shot an elk with one of the BORs last fall, and had great results. I'm always looking for cheaper alternatives, so I've been shooting .45-70 Remington 405 gr. bullets with Harvester sabots. I use 115 gr. of 777, and it dropped 3 out of 4 in their tracks. The last one ran 40 yards. In CO, I think you might want to look at the350 gr. Hornady FPB. I've killed elk and deer with it. Another similar option is Thor bullets, which I hear work very well.

Leaving in a week on a cow elk hunt. "Just my rifle, pony and me." Am pleased with the 6.5 lb rifle and it's 1.75" 100 yard group with the BOR 350gr.
The Thor people sent a free sample pack. I'll see how they compare next year. The rest of this year is for hunting and hopefully meat care.

Thanks
