I will be sighting in the new Impact in the next couple of days! I'm going to start off with 90 gr of BH209 with a Traditions 250 gr sabot ( got a deal on em) Question is I am wanting to sight in ( Zero) gun at a yardage when i can pretty much hold dead on from muzzle to 150 yards! Ant experiences or knowledge on where to start? I will shoot gun at different ranges To check actual bullet drop before season comes in in Oct. ( antlerless) but wanting a good "ball park" to get started

The load to mention is a great starting point. Many here will settle on 100/110 grains by volume with bullets in the 250 grain to 300 grain range and any of those loads would be a good 150 yard load zeroed at maybe 125 yards. Best test shoot any load sighted for 100 or more yards at say 25 and 50 and 75 just so you know where things go at those closer ranges.

Thank You, Been a couple years since I hunted with black powder, back then I pretty much shot best group at 100 yards and said "good to go" read more and have asked more questions since then, Just looking for the right way with less mistakes

I also have an Impact. Once you get your load and bullet size that is best for you, you will love this gun. It is very, very accurate and reliable.

I shot it Saturday morning to get on paper, very please with the gun and how it shoots, didn't really have time to shoot for accuracy, but with 6 shots, I am dead center and 2 inches high at 80 yards,I'm going to look at another Bullet/sabot tho, from looks paper, my bullet is hitting target almost like it is tumbling?? looks like bottom of bullet is higher than front from 13 yards to 80 ??

I really like my Impact too. Been using it 3 seasons now. Never lost a deer with it. My favorite load right now is a 200gr T/C Shockwave .40 Cal bullet in the provided 50 cal sabot. Charge is 1 50gr. Triple 7 and 1 60gr Triple 7 Magnum pellet for a total 110grs. Groups are about 1 1/4 " +/-.

The Impact is a very accurate gun right out of the box as a rule and takes little messing around to get them shooting very close to 1" at 100 yards if you have some room to work.....a couple/three different bullets and weights and a couple different sabots. Keep in mind that there are many bullet/sabot options out there to work with and whatever powder charge works sweet with one combo may not work well with another bullet/sabot combo . You didn't mention what the powder charge was in those 6 shots, but I'm guessing either too light or too heavy if the holes aren't perfect circles. I'd go back with those bullets/sabots you first shot and shoot two shot groups at 100 yards using charges that are at least 5 grains apart [heavier] until you're at 110 grains and check the holes after each two shot series. My two Impacts have liked at least 100 grains with 300 grain bullets [.44 cal XTP 300 grain and a green harvester smooth sabot] but really shined at 110 grains of volume measured powder and if needed I could shoot a 250 grain bullet [.45 cal XTP 250 grain and smooth black Harvester sabot] using the 110 grain charge without any change to point of aim and still be accurate. Both of the Impacts do this.

I'll note this: In both of my Impacts I did not find good accuracy until I went to the BH209 powder after fighting with T7 pellets and even loose T7 powder. Reasonable groups [1-1/2" - 2"] could be gotten using the packaged bullet/sabots but tightened up considerably when I tried 6 or 7 different bullets by weights and diameters in at least two different sabot brands. Both of these Impacts are 1", 5 shot at 100 yard guns using the .44 cal 300 grain XTP bullets in the green sabots with 110 grains of measured 209 powder. Bullet holes are always nice and clean and round at any range that I have shot them. I think you need to jack that powder charge up some, if you hadn't, in those 6 shots.

I only shot 90 grains of powder, measured, for those six shots. I will step up the charge in 5 grain increments. let you know how it goes

Be sure to clean out the flame channel behind the primer pocket every 10-12 shots. I believe a 1/8" drill bit turned by hand will do the trick.

I can post this ballistic sheet which will be in the ball park... When I sight in I use a method called Point Blank Range. This sheet demonstrates this. I have set my PBR @ 3" - so I will never be higher or lower than 3" through a given range.

Again this will be in the ball park but you will have to shoot it to be sure.
