Traditional Muzzleloader from Alberta

Hello everyone;
New to the forum but not new to muzzleguns. Am a longtime member of the sister site, The Muzzleloading Forum. Currently my passion lays with the traditional side, however due to aging eyes am considering the purchase of a... a... gulp... inline, thus allowing for a scope. Or perhaps tapping one of my production sidelocks for scope mounting. As most evolutions, I have owned inlines in the distant past, both have been TC Encores, so not totally new to me, just been awhile. And with age, coming full circle I guess. Just not likely to give up my sidelocks anytime soon.
Anyhow, just wished to drop a line and say “Hi” from the North Country.

to the site. We like them all over here! I had a sidelock first myself but my eyes caused me to go inline.

Fret not! I too started as a sidelocker, but went inline. If you haven't tried an aperture sight on your old girl, give it a whirl. You may be happily surprised.
Do get the inline too! Always good to expand your experience. And welcome to our little society!

hiya. Welcome to the site. I too am a new member. I find a similarity in the fact that I also started with sidelocks. We differ in the fact that all my muzzleloaders wear a scope . I like to say it's old eyes, but the fact is I've never been able to shoot satisfactorily with iron sights. I noticed on the other site that guys reacted to a scope on a sidelock like putting a tattoo on a baby.My opinion is "use what works".

You’ve scoped your sidelocks? What models do you have? How did you mount them? Does the hammer interfere? Would you mind posting pictures?

MVA sells a scope that will fit

No shame here, I have 2 barrels, one for traditional. Set this up before I moved to inlines. TC New Englander .50. TC stock mount/scope/rings.
I still try to carry it out a few times a year. The "Deer Slayer" those maxiballs sure put a hole in one.

Thank you for the info and picture. I will have to look around for a factory TC base and rings.

Welcome! Great to see so many from the sister forum over here!
So far I have been able to use aperture sights on my sidelocks with some proficiency.
However, time is ticking away and scopes are easier on the eyes...

I to started out with sidelocks. Still have them. Renegades in .45 LRH an .54 caliber.
Went to inlines for better scope picture. I won't put a scope on my side locks, so inlines it is!
